I had some trance on the player but he had to turn on some real techno, Koenig Cylinders- 99.9 (Selway Remix), and was that a huge mistake. He makes fun of me everyday for it now (the song is very repeative and uses the vocals "99.9" over and over). So he goes and tells everybody in my physics class I listen to "techno" and then mocks the song making some stupid beat and saying "99.9" over and over.

I let someone else in the class listen to some trance the other day (G&D present Motorcycle- As the Rush Comes (Sweeping Strings Mix) and he said it actually wasn't half as bad as the other kid made it out to be and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's the ignorant, narrow-minded ******s that don't understand our music.

LoL I know that song, .99.99.99.999.99.99 lol I like it though, is that techno?!?! I thought it was very hard techy trance:p

this thread is great because all of it is so true.

i can totally relate with those of you who are in highschool, where everyone loves fifty cent. and its funny when people come up to me and *try* to act like they know what they're talking about. "shannon, i heard this really really good techno song by dj sammy called heaven. it's soooooooooo good, have you heard it yet?" *puts a gun to her head*

oh look a song that someones playing on streaming radio named.....

Song: Techno - Happy Hardcore - German Trance
Psychonoise
Hehehem....i was in my class when a friend of mine was listening to DJ Sammy - heaven...and i asked...what kind of music u think that is? and he: Itīs Techno Dance... tsc tsc....why put techno there??After i asked to other friend what kind of eletronic music lasgo is...and he:I think itīs pop but itīs close to eletronic music...

I think a lot of teenagers in high school especially are too worried about listening to what is cool and popular. They'll just listen to whatever the radio tells them is good. And any trance songs that are played on the radio are usually commercial cheese . Such as DJ Sammy-Heaven etc.

I think that unless they have someone else introduce them to trance or any electronic music properly, they wont get it. And even at that, not everyone will like it of course. As long as they dont bother me I could care less.
One day they'll either realize that electronic music is the best music on the planet or they won't, and keep listening their crap. :tongue2

Speaking of which.. I was listning to Sasha- Artificial Heart during class and some people wanted to listen to it. They heard it and said '' Man this song is just like the techno songs dj quicksilver plays...'' It irritated the hell outta me.

Well, most of my friends listen to their own music. Rock, rap, pop, whatever they may choose, but I don't try to "convert" them from their preference.

eVERYONE here says their piece about how people say things like:
1. Wow, that DJ Sammy song
2. THat Lasgo song was great!
3. And the infamous "Trance? That's techno right?" **riiiiiight....*
but what about US? I'm sure at some point in our lives someone has said to us that they like rap. iN RESPONSE, we probably said something like " yOU LIke puff daddy?" and they could have taken that as much as an insult as 'you like techno? you like dj sammy?"
think about it!

I sooo agree with you all.

I'm currently rebuilding the engine to may car, so I let me cousin borrow my subwoofers and amp. We get it all hooked up and I say "You got anything with Bass to test it out?" He replies "Yeah, hol up" and brings out 50 Cent. If the kid wasn't blood I would have bitch slapped him out his truck. I went in and got some SquarePusher and blew out his door speakers before track 4, which has insane bass. :D

He didn't think it was funny, but he said I listened to some wierd techno. (SquarePusher is some hardcore DnB/Jazz , I agree)

I've converted a few of my friends to Trance, most of them music majors who appreciate good stuff, not just whats on MTV. My family just doesn't understand Electronic Music, but then, my dad says Zepplin was the only decent musicEurope ever put out (no ). So I give up on them and just force them to listen to AvB & PvD nonstop.

I've learned that people who don't really appreciate music for music, but rather for the popularity, don't have the mental capacity to understand Electronic Music.
