The Matrix Revolutions was a very frustrating and silly movie.
The good: The invasion of Zion was cool and the visual effects were outstanding....but it wasn't perfect. What was with that stupid kid reloading the Captain? Cheesey.
The Bad: Everything else! The story made no sense at all after the first Matrix, became more convoluted in RELOADED and now is just left for us to imagine ourselves. Seriously.....who was the French guy...what exactly was the Architect.....WHO THE WAS the Oracle and why was she sitting with the Architect at the end? What purpose did that annoying little brat kid serve? How did Neo's death at the hand's of Smith rid everyone of the Smith virus? Why would the machines even keep their word? MAJOR ING PLOTHOLES...and the way they end it all is the Oracle saying "I always believed..." staring into the sunshine? Seriously....WTF?!?!??!?!? Let's not even mention the CHEEEEEEEEEESE factor. Trinity's death scene was ridiclous.....all the Zion people were laughable...the ing Jamaican dreadlocked Council member....oh, and why did it take Neo 20 minutes to recognise that Smith had taken over Bane? HA!
The Wachowski's were extremely lucky with the first Matrix movie...it's still a stand alone Classic. Reloaded wasn't nearly as good but still half decent....Revolutions is finally where it all comes undone. What a joke of a movie.....the dialogue was laughable...purely ridiculous dialogue. George Lucas' dialogue is 5x better than the Matrix sequels and that's NOT a compliment to George! What a way to ruin a movie franchise that promised so much! I'm still in shock.....you can't write a story like this and then just leave it all up in the air with 6 or 7 loose ends all over the place. i think they intended to just piss everyone off.
Here's what I think REALLY happened to the Wachowski brothers. They got lucky with THE MATRIX and when it piled in the cash, they were expected to do sequels. But they had NO CLUE where to go with the story...and so in their effort to continue the saga without any direction...they gave us Reloaded and Revolutions.
Trust me....opening weekend #s for Revolution will be impressive, but after that it will drop off big time..I doubt it will clear 225 million US. You should have heard people coming out of the theatre...people were clearly unimpressed and underwhelmed.
The Wachowski's did in 4 years what it took Lucas to do in 25...ruin a movie's reputation with ty sequels (I'm talking Revolutions and The Phantom Menace in particular).
I'd like to understand why those of you, even though you're in the minority, liked this steaming pile of ? |

there arent too many plot holes...differences of opinion maybe, but most of the stuff is explained
the architect designed the matrix with the help of the oracle (who is an intuitive program) and they were talking at the end to see if the new matrix would work (ie peace). french guy was just an older program that was replaced, but he still lurks around in the matrix...watch animatrix to see who 'the kid' is, smith died when he overtook neo (u can decide why...whether they cancel, or neo killed him from inside or main computer killed smith thru neo), and it took neo a while to recognize smith in bane cuz it was outside matrix...um and the movie was really good because every sequel takes you on a completely different turn and changes the whole view of the movie. revolutions was the most dramatic. |

Revolutions was the most retarded you mean.....if you call Trinity's death dramatic, you need a lesson in good script writing and acting. How long can one live if they have 4 sharp metal beams lodged in their chest? LAUGHABLY RIDICULOUS!
Your explanations are yours alone and were not answerd BY THE FILM. That's the problem......you don't do that to an audience. You don't make the movie so that everyone is arguing about it or making up bull theories. Questions needed clear answering and they didn't antie up...that's a cop out if you ask me. So if the Architect designed Smith, why was Smith such a threat to him? If the Architect knew the Oracle was helping the humans, why wouldn't he hav dealt with her? The reason for Neo destroying Smith....well, THERE IS NO ANSWER. The audience is just supposed to accept that "that's the way it was meant to be"? Give me a break.
And the way Neo couldn't recognise Smith....WHO THE else calls Neo "MISTER ANDERSON"? Come on....be smarter than that man! The Wachowski's are assuming everyone is stupid if they make their hero out to be an idiot.
I couldn't get over the CHEESE factor in this movie...some scenes (like the kid being questioned by the captain, the captain screaming his head off while shooting at the squids, the kid screaming THE WAR IS OVER!!)....my god...this movie was almost making fun of itself! |

im not saying it wasnt cheesy, there was lotsa that.
and everything i said is explained in the movie, in reloaded, the oracle tells neo that she is a program. end of reloaded, architect tells neo that the oracle is an intuitive program who helped him design the matrix. architect himself tells neo who he is.
and architect doesnt know that the oracle was helping the humans, that was the whole point of revolutions, that the oracle played them all (including smith) from the start.
in matrix 1 , how did neo kill smith? well he killed smith the same way in revolutions...
k imagine ur mom just walk in the room and calls u mr.anderson, u immediatly gonna assume that shes agent smith and ur neo? no way, thats why neo didnt recognise him, cuz to his knowledge, it was impossible for a program to overtake a humans mind/body, such a concept didnt exist for him, plus bane was insane, dont forget, neo just assumed he was talking jibberish or something... |

You're right.....the whole damn movie was one giant piece of cheese . This is what's supposed to be "great filmmaking" these days? Holy ....gimme the 80's any ing day of the week...Star Wars, Indian Jones, Aliens, Robocop, Terminator....all superior films with less than a 10th of the budgets too. Talent in Hollywood just aint there anymore.
As for Neo not recognising Smith...it was stupid...I mean COME ON! The way Bane was talking....the halting tone that Smith talks in was big....but the use of "MISTER ANDERSON" was too damn obvious. Throughout the whole Saga....the only person that calls Neo "MISTER ANDERSON" is Agent Smith. That's just an example of bad bad BAD BAD BAD screenwriting. Terrible, actually.
And Trinity's death scene....whew...who wrote that? Larry Wachowski's 5 year old daughter? Neo "You can't die"....Trinity "Yes I can".....it was hilarious. I wasn't the only one laughing either...people were either groaning because they felt embarrassed on behalf of the filmmakers OR (like me) were laughing at how completely STUPID that scene, and many others, were.
Fact is....this is a bad movie. I'm suprised Revolutions and the original were made by the same two guys. |

I'm surprised hollywood would make such a movie. Its analytical level is pretty high. I guarantee more than 60% of the regular plebian audience would NOT understand this movie. Let alone connect it with the previous 3 into a plot.
One example is this dude above.
Good movies don't give you answers, they give you examples and questions. It is up to you to work your mind. If you wanna see answers then don't watch good movies. Watch the other regular hollywood crap.
The only reason you liked robocop/alien/indian jones/etc is because you were much younger then, and you were a kid movie fanatic that just loved action. I was the same, I also liked those old movies, especialy action packed ones like Rambo where you don't have to think at all, haha, but life goes on, and if I were to refer to them right now, I would be laughing my ass off.
So I won't spurr out my opinions of M3, its up to everyone to figure out their own answer. |

Have directors ever heard of actually making NEW ways of filming certain scenes, or do they expect people to appreciate the same rehashed ? To compare the Matrix with Hamlet is stupid....and the so called "philosophical brilliance" of these Matrix movies is also bull...anyone could have made this up if they had taken Philosophy 020.:rolleyes:
And raising more questions with a set of movies that, themselves, have already raised ENOUGH questions.....and then not give one solid answer...I'm sorry but it's BAD BAD BAD filmmaking and all it's going to do is make people angry. Take Lord of the Rings for example....possibly the best story ever told. Tolkien wraps everything up nice and neat at the end of Return of the King and I'm sure the movie will do the same. And that movie isn't all about action and killing.
I think some people have to get off their high horse and stop claiming that Reloaded and Revolutions are these brilliant films that make you think, because what they really are is just a bunch of nonsensical and more importantly...UNINTERESTING, philosophical bull packed in between action scenes that became more and more unimpressive and redundant as the film series progressed. To quote Peter Travers...."the Matrix Revolutions SUCKS." And he's right bang on the money. |

^^^ the philosophical part of the movie was really on a basic level, thats one of the reasons why i hated reloaded, cuz i was expecting more... or at least a new concept...
but like i said, i enjoyed the trilogy just cuz its cheesiness i guess..that the main hero sacrifices himself and dies... |

| Hmm, well I think the plot wasn't toot too bad, sure it left alot out in the air, but everything did happen the way it was said it would one way or another if you look at it as a whole. It's just the way the plot was presented to us that sucked ass... I walked out of there feeling very unfulfilled with what I had just seen, but the more I look back and think about it all, the more I can enjoy Revolutions with the other Matrixes as a 'whole', and thats it. |

i really didn't think i would be left speachless after watching revolutions, but i was... thats it, screw matrix, it had potential after the 1st part, 2nd one had a prayer, but the 3rd, :o :o :o :rolleyes: !! ugh |

I completely agree with you although I think that 60% is more like 90%. The interpretation of this trilogy is up to the individual depending on his/her values and beliefs. I for one enjoyed all the philosophical points that were made/raised. It's refreshing to see a Hollywood movie that can actually make you think after you walk out the theatre. |
