trance -> pop culture (pg. 3)

the scene here in SoCal is horrible.

Everyone is listening to CHEEZE (sarina paris, alice deejay).
Everyone keeps calling me a "wannabe asian" because somehow the asians are the only ethnicity around here allowed to listen to trance (i'm hispanic)
Everyone is holding glowsticks and dancing like a hunchback J.Lo.

It's annoying because they are doing it only to be popular. And now suddenly the greatest thing in the world is putting Racing Spoilers on their front wheel drive cars.

It's like they like they live their life by Carson Daly and TRL

How could anyone actually be a fan of DJ Jean and Dj Mystik?

STFU!
Who said prog is better?
It's because it's all going so damn mainstream that people inl. me move to something more underground without damn hyped up dj's in top 50 charts!
Don't post stupid stuff like this!

Theres nothing wrong with following a DJ because they play the music that you truly enjoy, but when people start worshipping tracks just because they have been played by the DJs its a step too far. But, don't flame people for just seeing the superstar DJs as often people can't afford to go out every weekend and when they do go out going to see a superstar DJ can often be a much safer use of their money.

Totally agree with this pop culture similie. Its always been their with regards to Judge Jules who is at best an average mixer and a below average producer. Yet anywhere he plays the place will be full because he is "the best DJ in the world and he plays on radio 1". I notice this "radio 1 = great DJ" phenomenom with Fergie a few months ago. "Fergies totally banging man!" said the Glasgow ned twat. "Fergies on next door, thats Yves Deruyter my friend!" was my reply. Conclusion - people have no education on DJ's or musical genres, rather they go with the general consensus so as to be in with the "in" crowd, thus we have a situation similar to pop music!

Err... so you're saying prog is better because not so many people listen to it? Or are you just typing out random nonsense because I can't see how your post relates to my reply in any way.

Well I already told you I can't really understand what the hell you're trying to say since first you say one thing then mean the other but yet you were trying to say something else altogether.

that's why there is something else, progressive!

Would you like to tell me what you actually mean by those quotes? I'm not trying to flame you or anything but you're seriously confusing me here...

the more popular trance music gets, the more it's going to become "commercialized", and become more of a pop culture. Actually it happens to other genres like hiphop and rock. Actually I'm beginning to see that trance music is moving closer and closer to pop music everyday :( Guess it happens to all genres.. all it takes is time.

Okay let's make some thing clear I dont wanna flame either.
I think u misunderstood me in some way.

I was just saying I moved to progressive because I was bored of trance, and also because it was going mainstream and so many people on the boards hyping up dj's etc etc....
So I thought by myself, I need something new --> progressive --> I listened, I heard and felt in love with it.
There was no intention saying prog is better then trance, if u have read all threads on the board here u see I made a thread "I love trance again", yesterday I believe....
BTW I'm now listening to tiesto @ space

Hope u understand my point now :)

like dumondetrancer said, it's all about being well known and hyped up that people love tunes or so...
Progressive is more underground, it's not as much hyped then trance is at this moment, that's what I like about it.

Well this should certainly clear it up
