another TOTA engineer ! how surprising .. :D

what do you mean by "general engineering" for Queens .. ? i'm assuming it's distreamed .. ? if so i'd opt for Queens then and aim to get into electrical/comp or engsci ..

good luck ..

Queen's eng = fun orientation, nice campus, but garbage clubs & night life. (By the way there is no eng sci, just eng phys and eng chem). Also a little snobbish in the ArtSci/Commerce faculties but NOT in engineering.

U of T = gigantic conglomerate school, heavy Asian population (not saying this is bad so no flames, please), but the major plus is obviously that it's here in TO. So it's probably more fun from the 2nd year onwards.

As far as I know, both are destreamed in first year, so there's no advantage to either. Queen's engineering is relatively helpful to individual students (not very, but more so than UofT), so rest assured you'll get to take whatever engineering you want after passing the first year.

It's a tossup. I got into both and I picked Queen's. Sometimes I regret it, sometimes I don't. You will definitely be disappointed with the clubbing scene in K-town, though.

go to the university that you think will most help you with your career. Neither is a bad choice....but think about your future..both schools are good imo. If all else fails...pick the career with more openings or whatever. You are young and remember you always have options.

No offense to TTA but after my first 3 years, it is my opinion that this is exactly what you absolutely should not do. Since undergraduate engineering degrees from Canadian universities seem to mean less and less these days (what's important is a Master's... or a lot of work experience), you might as well pick the place that you think you will enjoy the most.

I can't stress this enough - no matter where you go, you will learn what you need to learn. My single biggest regret from university is not doing as many fun things as I could have.

University of Toronto has the highest reputation in all of onatrio.

U of T Chem Eng = Fem Eng -- it's where most of the girls that are taking engineering are at ..

Both choices are quite good, although Queens is not known for its engineering programs (it's probably less stressful at Queens than at U of T)

always think about your future

study harder..party even harder!

well my bro is doing comp eng at U of T right now and he advises me to go to Queens cuz
1) since you live in res, its easier to meet people and form study groups and whatnot
2) get the hell away from my house
3) It may be less stressful

and then my friend tells me to go to U of T cuz
1) It has a better rep (any TOTA engineers wanna confirm/disprove this?). This would be important in how much i get paid in my job.
2) there is nothing to do in Kingston
3) Residence at Queens is $7500. I don't have that kinda of cash!!!

and now apparently chem eng has lots of females?? hmmmm...... :D

btw thanks for everyone who replied
I really appreciate it!

I think it would be a good idea to go down to U of T on Saturday... they have something planned for their new engineering students (should say in your acceptance package). I don't know if I can go though... :(
