Trance used in American culture

I've noticed that a lot of American culture has been using more and more trance and electronic music. For instance, CSI Miami. The entire reason why I started watching that was because I was flipping channels and saw Horatio stage a suicide with a doll.. but in the background was Sasha - Magnetic North. In another episode, they went to a club and Jan Johnson - Flesh was being played. And just tonight, I was in the shower with ESPN radio playing and during a segment of a show, Sasha - Fundamental was used as the background music... SWEET!!!
Not really much point in my post. Just thought I'd share. Anyone else recall any other instances where non-bighit trance songs were used?? |

| ER had an episode last season or a couple seasons ago where one of the doctors is like "Hey wanna go to ________. Orbital is playing." I got totally freaked out, and at the end of the episode they were in the club partying. Was pretty cool. |

| Yes, and on MTV the one day I heard: 4 Strings- Take Me Away (Into the Night) being played in the background. Which mix? I don't know because the tune is so OLD :stongue: |

It's so amusing how any use of electronica in the states (regardless how old it is, as in the Into The Night example) is seen as groundbreaking. I don't know how it is in Europe, but the club scene in the US is virtually invisible to anyone who doesn't dig for it, and most of the clubs people do know play really bad music, bastardized pop-electronic European reject material. And even that's on a different planet than the mainstream.
But these sorts of flirtations in music over television are a possible example of electronica making a foothold in America. Europe will be way on the next wave by the time people actually have any idea of what "trance" is. |

| Yeah, cuz a majority of Americans are frankly very stupid. They don't realize how good this music is and will continue listening to that pop and rap garbage :D |

No, most people here are too lazy to search for music on their own and only listen to what is spoon fed to them. Just take a look at your friends/people you know...out of all of them, how many listen to "underground" rock or rap, yet alone electronica? |

| ^Actually, most of my friends listen to trance (non-cheesy) or something underground. We are all anti-mainstream, hence why they're my friends :D But seriously, I see your point about how Americans in general are too lazy and just turn on MTV to find music. |

When you first met them were they that way, or have you converted them? |

What i come to find, there is such a mad talent in up and coming DJ's from USA..... I think in 10 years they will take over as new PVD and Digweed.... if things go right direction, USA will become dominating nation for DJ-wise and Production wise and put Holland, Germany and Britain undernieth...I'm sure by that time europe will come up with the new fab..... |

To answer Tekno's question first, only one of them was "converted", but he wasn't listening to music really in the first place.
Anyway, the US will NEVER surpass Holland in trance production. With the R.A.V.E. Act and all that , you can't really host a good party like the ones in Europe. How will DJs become known if not for those big events? Sure there are smaller events, but not everyone around the country can hear it. |
