How much influence has Trance music on the health of our Ears?

Im listening to trance since 2000, and i use Headphones once in a while, my question is how serious is the damage that the music (Trance or anyother Electronic music using Kicks) is causing to our ears ? you see i dont want to become deaf in this early age :nervous: , yet i dont want to stop listening to Trance because its almost the only music i like :(.
Im sure others have the same thoughts/feelings as mine .:) |

I think tinitus is the worst thing u can get!
Another thing i always think of while listening with my headphones is that there has to be a lot of electronic radiation going stright into your head! Anyone know something about this? |

| i dunno but i hav fecked my ears up quite badly. sometimes it just fluctuates, kinda like the feeling u get as something swifts past ur ear. :( |

This has concerned me lately too. I'm a cyclist and have alway ridden while listening to music. Thing is when you ride you have to turn the music up very loud to get over the sound of traffic and wind. I'm starting to notice ringing in the ears when it's silent around me. I've taken to wearing earplugs more when I use earphones now, and try to avoid using earphones when I can.
I'm not a clubber so no problem there. If you are there are musicians earplugs available that are very good if things are getting bad.
Apparently even loud music does no damage, but if it's loud for extended periods, like hours, then the likelyhood of permanent damage rises dramatically. There is info on this about - do a google search for "musicians earplugs".

I'm sure i'm gonna go deaf when i'm older!
I've always got music in my car on sooooo loud. After about 15 minutes at volume 6 (which is quit loud) I have to turn it up more to get the same effect from when i first started listening! :stongue:
And when i go with my mates to cruises, I'm sure my ears are pummeled with there 150dB soundsystems. My ears acually go numb and ache after a session with those! hmm, maybe i should stop... |

| I was wondering about veteran DJs the other day regarding this issue....they play in loud clubs for years. I wonder how deaf they are? :nervous: |

| I've been listening to electronic music for nearly a decade now, and I haven't really noticed my ears suffering in any way. Although I have noticed that several people have pointed out the name of a track in background music playing in shops, and I've been unable to hear anything so I don't know, maybe I have lost something but since I can't get into someone else's ears to compare, it's hard to tell really. :D |

| yeah...i wonder about this too sometimes...its not like i can't hear, but i'm never happy with say the volume of the music or tv when other people set it...i guess i just like it loud hehehe... |

| man i'm scared for my hearing too! I listen to trance with headphones and people in the other room yell at me for it being too loud on THEIR ears! |

every loud noise contributues to hearing loss... heck my psych proff wears ear plugs while he drives to minimize traffic noise...
you wont notice any gradual hearing loss, one day it will just hit you and you will notice a drastic change.
and yea listening to loud music or any other sounds for long periods of time doenst help! |
