I've noticed a lot of people on TA losing interest in trance this year. IMO trance of 2003 has been crapo (except for a few tunes). Most of the good "so-called" trance tracks this year are in fact prog (motorcycle - ATRC, holden - break in the clouds, etc). Anyways, i have no problem with people (including myself) liking other genres more than trance on here but trance should be the focus of these forums ;)

I disagree with you about ATRC being prog. It's trance. No real rolling basaslines. Even A break in the clouds is considered prog but the melody is undoubtedly trance. |

Once again, progressive trance was around before epic trance and can be seen in such tracks as Blue Fear and 1998. For An Angel also closely follows that style and would have been called prog trance back in the days before you bastardized its definition. Please do NOT confuse this with (a) those tracks with trance melodies and housey basslines, or (b) the minimal trax which have trance fragments mixed into prog house tunes, both of which I'm sure you all decide to classify as "prog" trance because you've gotten used to using "prog" to mean "house" in the general sense. What's wrong, you're afraid to admit that it's House music?
Sorry, this is just a pet peeve of mine... if you people are going to start nit-picking about genres, at least get your facts straight! I don't give a rat's ass what genre a particular track is, or what genres are posted about on trancEaddict, but if you're going to argue about it, get it right!

prog trance is a mix of progressive house and trance melodies...a song that progresses...with a trancey melody...?
when i think prog house i think: infusion, luke fair, PQM....
there's a big diff between that and G&D or holden
i dunno it doesn't really matter to me...i listen to whatever sounds good. :whip: |
