I understand what you mean. I was by no means saying it's OK to say and that it won't offend anyone. I say 'jewed' sometimes without even thinking, just because I heard it once and I say it sometimes(without thinking). I know that by using rape to describe a good thing is using an opposite meaning, and really shouldn't be used. I personally don't like using the word rape to describe something good, but yes we can't change the way people write/speak. They do it without meaning any harm though, and most likely don't think about what it actually means. That's my opinion too, but I'm glad you know that people will say it even though it's a bad thing to say :sadgreen: |

trance is not just uplifting trance. progressive trance and tech-trance etc...are all trance-oriented. so not everyone here is going to like the same kind of trance that you like.
and you make trance and prog seem like apples and oranges. which is not the case. why do you think so many fans of prog post here? and where do you think prog evolved from exactly?
also, i don't think it's fair to put words in del's mouth. you make it seem as if he has a problem w/ ppl reviewing prog dj's on TA. I can't say what his opinion is on this, but I have seen him out in KH during danny at ultra 2 and I he did come to GUv when danny was playing last february (he was the only guest dj).
and finally, so what if someone doesn't liek the music that was being playing in teh mainroom.Maybe they thought teh mixing was , or the track selection ATM was not to their liking, or maybe they don't like the same trance that you like. I am open to pretty much all kinds of music and I think that when different music styles are discussed on TA is enriches teh site, it doesn't detract from it.

Also, stereoprincess mentioned that it was a website that more about the scene, which i agree, but remember Swamper made it for the love of trance, not prog. And most TOTA's are secretly prog lovers and like it better than trance but they dont want to admit it. If you choose a prog DJ over a trance dj, you would rather listen to prog and that means that you like that music more. Im not talking about specific instances, im refering to a general feeling i got when many members here post reviews of say Digweed and Howells or Kleinenberg, when johan Gielen was ripping apart Viva.
One time i even read a review that said they walked into the main room (at guv) and walked away becuase they couldnt take "that music".....that music is called trance.:rolleyes: |

| LKD....I've said this a few times myself, and I just get flamed for it. It also bothers me that trance is often forgotten in favour of Prog this, prog house that, techno is the greatest, house is the best, yadda yadda bla bla bla. It's annoying. |

Smitty, there's a reason why you get flamed and the same goes for LKD.There's nothing about being addicted to trance that says you can't be equally addicted to other genres as well. Fact of the matter is, most people on here are. |

Im talking about trance in general, all the trance sub gnres fal linto this. Also, im not bothered by people liking their own music, its just that i feel they like it more than trance.

I know they are kinda similar, but there is still a noticeable difference. My point is that there is alot of attention given to prog and other NON-TRANCE genres on a website that is made for, in my eyes, TRANCE!!!!!!!!

Now you are putting words in my mouth. I never implied that he had a problem with it, only that it is problematic in my eyes considering that this website is TRANCEaddict.

Whether you like it or not, trance is trance, and that was what was being played in the main room. Maybe the 'sub-genre' wasnt akin to the liking of this picky person, but its something that i have come ot see on a regular basis amongst many TA's on the toronto forum. They are too picky and therefore, anything a DJ plays is not to their liking...becuase they are too specific.
But thats another topic. What i am trying to imply is that there is alot of prog/techno/jungle/breaks talk than there should be.
Let me ask you something, when you signed up, did you intend to becuase you wanted to know more about prog/house or trance ? |

I dont think you understand what we, or what others think i am trying to say here. I too like other genres of electronica, but it seems that many here are promoting another genre of music that doesnt relate to the sole purpose of this website...trance music in all its forms.
anyone can like what they want, but they should understand that its a trance board, not a electronica board. I dont recall a time when the word trance was interchangeably utilized to encompass all electric forms of music. |

See...Cyrus knows where I'm coming from.
What really gets me is how people just outright BASH trance.....and when I say "well, you know, this IS tranceaddict.com" they get all defensive. I like the other genres too, but why do people on here feel the need to bash the out of trance (especially Tiesto, Ferry, Armin, PVD, etc) just because their own attention spans don't last long and they have moved on to darker music or whatever? That really pisses me off to no end. |

if only the ppl who put trance above all other musical tastes posted here only about trance, there wouldn't be very many threads in this fourm. the reason i started posting on here wass b/c of the diversity. i have always been open to all kinds of music, electronic or otherwise, and i don't see why TA shouldn't encompass more. you say that all teh sub-genres of trance shoudl be talked about here, but if no one ever linked trance w/ other genres then they wouldn't exist. if you only like uplifting trance, than only open those hreads and go to those parties. it's very simple.
you said something about ppl going to diggers instead of gielen (?). well diggers still plays trance (amongst other things). it seems to me that you have a very narrow idea of what a trance fan should be and what they should post about. prog and trance are obviously not the same thing, but they are interrelated. where do you start and where to you stop? in my review about diggers should i only mention the prgressive trance parts of his set, b/c i don't want to offend ppl on here that don't like trance? that is ridiculous!

I'll speak my mind about any Genre, Party, DJ, or General Topic that I want and why???? because I am member. Check the status of your-selves and then try and tell people on here to not post what they want.
I could get into it but why bother.....:rolleyes:
P.S. You have to remember that some people on here may have started listening to trance and then moved (Progressed) on to other genres. Some people may have made some pretty cool friends on here, you think cause they don't listen to trance as much they are going to stop posting about what a blast they had on the weekend, or what DJ rocked the club? I doubt it. Suck it up ladies this isn't your message board. |

ok let me express my initial post clearly....
now that i figured out what exactly i was implying then...
what i meant to say is
some/many post on here and dont even like trance..infact they hate it with a passion....im not gonna mention names....
and there are some who may like trance a tiny bit, but talk ONLY of other genres
thats what i cant really stand..co the name of this site is tranceaddict and is about ttrance
