damn this page has gotten long i have given up on seeing what people are saying before posting my little bit!

okay, we made a trip for this and we got there to find the venue small, the turnout of heads seemingly small, and the speakers only in front! then pvd comes on and this is like no other beginning to a pvd set of any kind. it was very casual, he started his first track at a very low volume, almost like a test run (that was the scratch, and it was not a scratch in a cd/record, it was pvd testing final scratch out loud in the speakers). this is what i mean by very informal. like he was not making his usual entrance. then he started mixing and he started it real slow. though there was some quality house in there, it seemed weak. as he started to pick it up, and everyone screamed louder and soon after, it was the first time i was standing in a crowd in front of paul van dyk thinking, "i am in for a disappointment tonight". those speakers were so weak for so long that he didnt even stand a chance it banging the place out. my friends and i were like ing hell, why can we have a conversation, and why can we outdo the music with our singing? i had expected and just decided to make the most of it and listen "harder" since the volume was increasing and the bass wasnt kickin. honestly, at this point i dont think the subs were on.

then i remember getting a drink almost halfway into the set. as i was in line things started getting banging and i looked a fool dancing, shouting and clapping in a huge line of people buying beer and practically socializing. when i finally made it back to the crowd, the night had turned around on me, it was the best feeling ever. the next two hours were nothing but quality. the crowd DEFINITELY was losing it for those two hours, as was i. there was so much energy out there, we got pvd into it and he started to have some fun for sure. we loved the last two hours and so did he. the sound kicked in so much better, i think they probably got the subs on, and the lasers came in and dazzled everyone, including pvd who was looking above and behind him with a smile.

what was weird about this set, besides the unfortunate lack of sound in the first half:

he had like three or 4 mixes just like the nature one set. first three songs or so! that was kinda like listening to my mp3s. but then of course this changed and a bunch of songs were played twice. though, some people are angry about this, i was happy, because the fact is, the first time these songs were played it did not do justice. as the rush comes, time of our lives and all those sounded so much better when we got some ing volume and bass out there and they were able to take the set where they couldnt with the lacking sound and vibe at the beginning (they = the songs). it was all about the sun going down because when everything else picked up completely! to my surprise, my first time to be disappointed by paul van dyk turned into complete awe and amazement in the second half! (i should have never doubted him, despite the lacking start. pvd has the power to tare apart).
wow, and what, 99% of his mixing was off that little laptop and final scratch! there were definitely some serious moments with the popular songs where everyone went nuts. but i also REALLY REALLY enjoyed hearing at least 5 of the unavailable new. sooooo sweet.

can't wait to see him in boston! i wonder how philly was. what a guy? can u imagine him going to spin after all that! energy and dedication!

(oh and the people were definitely there... i was fooled by my first impressions)
i think made events could have made an effort to have some better sound for pvd.

I tried recording it but the speakers were way to weak to get a decent recording... it's like they were following noise regulations... I might release the set... but there's a crapload of conversation between my friends and I.. so probably not....

aww man, u still got to let it!!! for your fellow fans.....

I know he gets into it when he is on stage man, real active and invigorating.

Umm, heh what are you talking about, there's no way Paul "ment" to make that song skip in the begining - Did you see the look on his face when that happend, he was mad pissed...I don't know why you think he ment to do that.

Anyways, I had a blast - That was definaly one of the best events I've been to since March in Miami. (I'm a sucker for outdoor events, I lovee them heh) I got there around 5:30 and I've never even been to Central Park before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I definaly think they did a good job with the sound, especialy the lazers (As you all noticed=) But he definaly played songs that he usually doesn't play (as me and Alex were discussing for a few mintues) Like ATRC, and I can't belive he played Nothing (Has anyone heard him play that before?)

It was great seeing Pyro, NY1004, EnigmaT, Daahippieman, Rubyriva, and hey Rory, he finally played Empire for you!! :D I also met a few new TA's randomaly which was cool of corse...I don't remember there names though, and I'm sorry if I forgot to menshon anyone that I saw, but I can be forgetful at times :D

honestly, i dont know if he meant to do that but i really think it was a track from his computer.... as opposed to a cd/vinyl scratch. who's to say why it happened? either the equipment or an accident. he is great, but imperfect..... just like any other talented artist or dj or anything.
