I'm a total newbie to photoshop...I have photoshop 6 and I want to now how you layer images (I'm not sure if I'm wording this correctly). I have seen people on TA with chicks on top of another image or a turntable onto of something else...

It's pretty easy actually.
Create a new layer.
Find the pic of the girl you want.
Paste it into the new layer.
Change the blending properties of that new layer. :)

That's about it....voila! :D

well if you open a new image (blank) you get a window with the specs you entered (height and width).. if you copy, paste an image (like a tt or girl) into your image window you can see the layer in a window (or if you can't see it click on Window > Show Layers)..
now if you have multible layers (more pics you wanted to add) you can change the order in which they are standing now).. this way you decide which pic comes first (first. background second. tt etc..) :)

Check it out guys and girls...I hand painted my avatar and sig. Took me awhile too...but I like to think some of that art school was worth the money ;)

Well I wouldn't like to say exactly what I was thinking well painting it, cause it would ruin it, cause it can mean different things to different people. Anyway, the basic premise is that it starts with the city scene (avatar) and the records come out of the sky, to the god like DJ who wants to get the crowd goin :)

COOL! did you painted it especially to use as a sig? or was it a painting you still had laying around somewhere? And how did you manage to make it digitally, u just used a regular scanner?
