The internet is just another means of communication. If someone was an on the phone, would you think "Oh, it's just because we were talking on the phone" ? No.

If someone is an on the board, they are an in real life, unless they just enjoying talking from behind a computer. If that's the case, then they need to grow up....and they aren't someone I'd want to spend a lot of time with, for that reason.

There's a significant difference from the phone and internet communication. You can hear the inflections in people's voices and determine whether or not someone is angry when they say something, whether they are joking, or if they are trying to make a serious point. I mean, how many people post in here just to make a snitty yet not very serious comment about something and it gets thrown way out of hand and turns into a flame war. If I met you in real life and we were talking about music and I said "I don't really like techno, I prefer prog" and you might say "ahh, I find prog a bit too slow, I like the energy and percussiveness of techno" I don't see how that could turn into an argument. On message boards it turns into "prog sux" "techno sux" "you suck" type bull, and it's very Juvenile.

I realize this thread is more about PP and whoever else and I might be a bit off topic but I have had no conflict with her, I don't read her posts (or if I do I don't take them seriously or find my self offended)...I will refrain from making judgements about people I have not met in real life.

I won't mention any names, but I've seen posts from people on this board that have irked me. I have subsequently met them at parties or whatever, had meaniful discussion with them and felt glad that I never judged them by a post on a message board.

Nat, you read my mind. Honestly, the impression I had of him before having talked to him was nothing like the one I have now. He's a really fun and cool guy, not a dick. :happy2::p

That, my friends, is quite important.

You're confusing being an with disagreements. I have had endless disagreements with people on here and have had a jolly time with them in person. I can agree to disagree - doesn't make me think less of the person, unless in the online disagreement they start behaving really immaturely.

However, when someone proceeds to flame me or be rude online, I have no intention of meeting them in person. If they can't behave at least somewhat politely online, then the same holds true in person. And if you want to hang out with someone who really was just talking from behind their monitor, go right ahead. I personally can't and won't deal with people who insist on making a (bad) name for themselves online. I just don't have the patience to give s online a second chance in person....if you do, kudos to you.

Agreed.
It's called being two-faced...

Haven't a lot of you felt sick to your stomachs when you see some guy being a total to his girlfriend or wife, putting her down and treating her like crap in public - then after asking her why she puts up with it, getting the answer: "Oh, you don't know what he's REALLY like" or "he's not like that in private"?

Well it's kind of the same thing... the forums are "in public", the parties are essentially a private setting because no one can really overhear a conversation between two people at a club. There's no excuse for being nice in the flesh and a jerk online - I'm just as willing to hand out compliments or praise people in public, on the forum, as I am to flame. Some people only seem to hang on the negative side of that.

Maybe it's a bad idea for some people to judge others online, because it is an impersonal medium and there is lots of room for misinterpretation, but having said that, certain people have a way of making it abundantly clear, even online, that they are asses.

I know we need to ignore her but you know what sometimes it's really hard.. I never once said anything rude to her until she bashed me... and even then i hardly said anything...

Then i decide to ignore her she starts calling me FAT... no matter how hard you try you can't ignore it. I've always been self conscious and for a girl to come on here that doesn't even know me to judge me is bull. I don't need abuse like this and that’s what i call it. I thought you’re supposed to feel safe on these boards.

I'm so sick of her and i think that she is the whole reason for all of this fighting... We are all so close and you can see that at the parties we go to... No fighting etc.. And why? cus she isn't there.

So what better way to make these boards back to the way it was... BAN HER ASS!!!

Someone should make a poll asking how many ppl want her banned... Would that help?
