okay, to start off... tranceeyes, im pretty sure that was jose contreras who has never won a world series.
anyway... right now, the yankees starting rotation looks like this:
1. Mike Mussina
2. Jose Contreras (who is a starter, not a bullpen guy djdl)
3. Jeff Weaver
4. ???
5. ???
so the yankees need starting pitchers. they'll probably pick up kevin millwood to fill one of those holes. plus, it is possible that pettite will re-sign... BUT, Jeff Weaver will most likely be traded anyway. so who knows what is happening.
as for position players:
1b. Nick Johnson; Jason Giambi
2b. Soriano (but who knows, i've heard he may get traded)
ss. Jeter
3b. Boone (i also heard that he may get traded)
OF. Matsui, Williams, ???
Williams needs to get traded or moved to DH or something. he is not good. also, your team needs a REAL right fielder. not Karim Garcia who throws bullets, but WAY over everyones heads. he has no aim. a real right fielder is needed. also, everyone forgets about coaches. Zimmer is gone, Stottlemeyer will probably leave if Pettite leaves. Lee Mazilli is gone. so you guys are most likely going to have a completely revamped team next year. one thing besides pitching that you need is contact hitters, as was shown in this world series. the contact hitting team beat the homerun hitting team. guess we'll just have to wait a month or two to see whats happening. i cant wait to see where vladimir guerrero goes (please god, anywhere but the yankees because then i will be forced to watch yankee games...) |

Are you saying that the Yankees are a homerun hitting team? Giambi is the only person on that team that poses a homerun threat. Bernie doesnt count that he leads the ML in homeruns in the post-season, hes been there 8 years in a row. As for the coaching, yea thats going to be a big big problem... I would be surprised if Torre would stay with the Yankees. And as for Vladimir Guererro, if Steinbrenner wants him - he will get him.
If they dont resign Petitte it would be the biggest mistake they will ever make. |

Erin, thats totally wrong, the franchise might have 26 Championships, but the players dont. Jeter, Williams, M. Rivera, Petitte, Wells, Clemens, Posada are the only Yankees to have championships; Jeter, Williams, M. Rivera, and Petitte being the only ones to have all 4 rings of the 90's. Everyone else doesnt have a ring. Dont confuse the success of the franchise with the success of the players. :thepirate |
