| Wtf ... these gorillas aren't the gorillas you see in the movies like Congo or planet of the apes ffs. A) They aren't the super smart fighters as many of you portray ... wtf are they going to do, kung fu back flips? 20ft jumps into the air? Break the bear's neck??? Give me a break, they are HERBIVORES who have survivalist instincts/competition for chicks at BEST. They are not trained hunters/fighters or any such skills ... they do not live to fight, and they are relatively docile animals in general. They mostly assert DOMINANCE rather than aggressive tendencies to kill. B) I see ing scientists picking fleas off their backs all the time ... I rarely see scientists pick the fleas off a grizzly's back. This lack of "killer" instinct leads me to believe that gorillas are ultimately pussies at heart. C) When you think of gorillas you think of monkeys banging their chest ... when you think of grizzlies you think of bears eating your chest. The gorilla is at most going to PUNCH/nibble the bear. The bear at most will claw and BITE the gorilla. I mean a gorilla probably cannot even CRUSH the neck of the bear with its hands (nor would it know to do so) as much as a grizzly's jaws can crush anything. |

Sure the bear can bite and claw... but only anything stupid enough to let itself get clawed. People who have grown up around bears aren't scared of tehm at all and can be confident around them as long as they have a knife handy, for emergencies. Scientists pick fleas off gorillas born in captivity, and used to human presence. The dude who trained the bears for "Doctor Dolittle" keeps several Grizzlies and wrestles with them daily.
I'm not saying that the gorilla will kill the bear... I'm saying it won't sustain any damage as the bear's attacks are too clumsy and predictable. However, it may cause some damage to the bear as it can gouge and bite too... most pobably neither would die in the fight but the bear would sustain more damage. |

What kind of damages? And how would the gorilla be able to bite the bear without getting a death clamp on its neck/a torn belly from 4 inch claws? You're telling me a bear can catch a fish from a river yet cannot match the speed of a gorilla?
We are the smartest beings on the planet so therefore we should technically be able to out-kung fu a bear? |

Don't know how true this is but i recall reading somewhere that native american kids used to play with bears, by seeing who could slap it in the face. Because they spent time watching the bears hunt, they could predict is behaviour. Same principle that allows Steve Irwin catch extremely venomous snakes and huge crocodiles that could normally take down a large bull. These animals have no problem-solving ability and can't alter their attacks. |

my vote goes the the grizzly. silverback apes can be quite vicious, but grizzlies got them claws and nasty teeth and are super fast. they can outrun any human and tear them apart.
the bear can give the ape the good ole one two with its massive claws and tear that ape a new .
**by the way, this thread rocks!

| i think in actuality the gorilla has a big shlong than the bear and will slap it in the face and knock yogi unconscious |

why dont we just drop a grizzly onto a silverback while its having sex? or better yet see what happens when the silverback comes home to see his mate cheating on him with the grizzly? haha
on a serious note. although i would have dibs on the grizzly, silverback has serious anger management issues and would be more agressive then the bear. |

actually gorillas have small penises and balls, because they do not have other males competing with them to impregnate females. there is usually that one big dominant silverback male that gets all the females, so their sperm does not face much competition. unlike say chimps for example as mutilple chimps mate with the female and there is competition for whose sperm impregnates the female first. |
