That's always been PvD's style. Tiesto knows to hold on to mixes in the perfect key whenever he makes an effort. Ferry is predictably boring most of the time. |

Kevin Yost... saw him just last sunday... OMFG this
man is pure ownage. his blend of acid jazz with deep house,
progressive house, a little funk, some electro and tribal
percussions is just the breath of fresh air i needed.
his music isn't energetic, it's layed back and brilliant,
yet it makes you wanna dance with a smile on your face.
he is the kind of DJ who just plain makes people feel
happy while they're playing...
Danilo Vigorito... excellent techno/minimal DJ,
pumps out techno that makes you wanna jump all night
long. his sets aren't just the same boring old crap over
and over. he can go from bleeps and blaps to hard percussion
and acidic basslines. much respect.
Marco Carola... first techno DJ i saw live, and
he blew me away. ranking as #100 this year, i find Carola
simply amazing. his 7 hour set here had bits of electro,
hard techno, tribal, house, and even finished off with
some melodic proggy house (his last track was Koala - Untitled)
deserves more attention.
Astro & Glyde... the american lubricants. these
guys are to be watched out for. their simple yet genius
selection of music and fine mixing is truly amazing, i
didnt know that by doing so little so simply, you could
rile up a crowd so badly.
Steve Porter... amazing producer, but he'sa ing
good DJ too. people disregard him as a DJ most of the time
because of the fame he has got producing, well, he ing
teared the place up last time he spun here. props to Porter.
and finally....
James Zabiela... ok, so this one is sort of cheating,
he did rank as #11 this year. but still, he'd ing own Tiesto's
ass any day. the kid has come a long way in a VERY short time,
and its because of something; the SKILLZ. i mean, who the hell
spins trip hop/breaks/melodic prog/electro/techno/house/trancey prog/tribal
all the while scratching like there is no tomorrow and throwing
in acappellas, live edits, spinning tracks in reverse, effect
combination only he can think of, playing 2 copies of the same
track at the same time, only one is in reverse and matches up,
etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, AND STILL MANAGING to be a nice guy,
really humble about his skills. top 3 = bleh. zabiela = win. |

Onto Underrated
Eddie Halliwell
Marco V still, easily as good as Armin & Tiesto
Nick Rafferty - Not everyones cup of tea but everything i've heard from him has been wickedly mixed
Tom Harding - Much better than any of the top 10 dj's in the way he puts on a show, not just mixes tunes (or in tiesto's case fails to so often)
Chris Liebing
Always pleases, doesn't take the attention as much as some do, and maybe cos he's a techno jock will never get it to the same degree, but gets on with his job & wows people
Mark EG
Underground DJ for years who puts on a whole show, let alone a set, eats vinyls, gets fooked, crowd interaction = 100% makes tiesto look like a statue :stongue:

Armin yes, Tiesto too, Digweed i guess, Burridge maybe, dont listen to Jules.. but I dont think Deep Dish are overrated. Loved everything from them this year. Good long sets, good remixes, crowd pleasers, and always willing to discuess future plans. |

| i just want to see how many of you fine people think that most every dj who is even on the top 100 list is underrated in terms of there popularity in around the world, particularly in the media. mtv, any music magazine or channel that is considered major worldwide media doesnt give electronic music a second glance. i think the scene itself is underrated, dont you. it looks pretty damn huge when your in it, its invisible when your out of it. |

if good places that serve EDM are starting to get
riddled with teeny boppers, posers, and all that
other stereotypical teenage mass goodness, more
coverage would just worsen it. not to mention,
we'd get 9000000100000000000000000 more DJ sammy's,
it would be the new trend, and you'd get every
last from 50 Cent concerts invading .
yes, the DJs deserve fame, the scene needs more
coverage, it is what is right, but as a friend
of mine once quoted when debating the subject
of trying to get my common friends to learn about
edm, and show them a real party, "the people that
are not capable of forging their own revolution do
not deserve it."
think of how much youve learned, read, and actually
put in effort to know what you know, that equals
respect for the music and the scene. thats the kinda
you dont just happen upon, you bascally earn it.
without that, i think the scene could die. its about
the true fans. else, it would just become another
form of pop :/
electronica isnt to be handed to anyone on a silver
platter, i believe you should WANT to know about it,
not just happen to it. sucks for the people that live
in places where there is _NO_ electronica available tho... |

I wouldn't say digweed is overrated Ian, he's pretty much mastered everything........
Lee Burridge is, deep dish ain't bad.
And Tiesto can mix in key ( :stongue: ), eh? means all when you can't beatmatch :rolleyes:
when it comes down to it, if all you're doing is attempting to beatmatch, you ain't all that |

damn you for being able to see him. I own his two Small Town Underground compilations and they just own. Too bad he's hardly ever in Europe, not to mention Austria. I take it his set was still a bit more energetic than the smooth jazz-house on his comps? |
