I'll have to disagree with you there. Primarily that I think it's a conflict of interest to set up a promoter as a moderator on the board, which usually leads to abuse of power. The real issue isn't banning flamers, as I don't really see flamers as a huge threat to the integrity of the board. Sure, they can be annoying at times, but everyone here is mature enough to get involved in or ignore matter that may be opressive, insulting, etc.., only in extreme cases where things get out of hand should someone get banned for that. However, I also think that virtually everyone here is capable of doing that same job since it doesn't really require any special skills, hence I'll agree with you on the second point and say that someone neutral should be assigned as a moderator. |

All my actions are in the best interest of the board and not in the best interest of my other activities. It is funny how this all comes to light when other issues are happening of the board. And don't worry Trancegeek, I will be replying to your pm shortly.
In regards to the 2nd moderator, I am the second moderator. Swamper always moderated TOTA, however as the site began to grow his attention was needed elsewhere. Therefore I was brought in to try and keep up with the moderation.
My philosophy is to leave the forum alone as much as possible. Everyone on here is capable of resolving their own issues without constant intervention from Swamper or myself. A forum with no constructive arguments or the occasional flaming is a dead forum in my opinion.
Another issue that we are having with every promoter in the city now wanting to promote their events in TOTA. If they were allowed to roam free this place would sell out very fast. All constructive threads would be drowned out by hundreds of events threads. We are extremely welcoming to promoters, as long as they follow rules and as long as the respect the forum. These promoters must understand that the forum exists because of the hard work and investment of one individual. Again, another reason to be hard on those who are simply here to exploit the forum. And then you also have those indiviuals who simply steal the 'tranceaddict' concept for their own personal benefit also.
My role is to not pick favourites and to remain neutral, even to those who are extremely close friends of TA, right Ezekiel? The sig looks better now anyhow! So it is without doubt that some will not like my actions of decisions, or even dislike me. That is fine, I always act in the best interest of the site. Remember, if this was tribe the complainers would have been banned long ago..

In all honesty, anyone who actually thinks they should be a mod, probably shouldn't be. Wanting to be a mod implies some kind of agenda. It'd make more sense if someone was just nominated or voted in.
(Not that I'm implying that we need another mod - we don't - I just find the "MAKE ME A MOD!!!" comments to be a little off-the-wall.) |
