Why do we stay on turntables?

I'm not flaming or anything, and would appreciate it if i received no flaming in return, i am asking a simple question.

I have had Traktor DJ Studio for about six months, and i have now pretty much mastered it (except i only have a single channel sound card so i can't use headphones at the same time) and i would say the mixes i produce are flawless in technical terms. They're cued correctly, the fade unnoticably between tracks, the track don't clash, the beatmatching is constantly perfect etc etc etc. The quality of the mixing is parrallel to that of a professional DJ (except maybe the choice of tracks, but thats because i can't dl music at uni).

What is the point, therefore, of paying a professional DJ copious amounts of money to do something i can do, or indeed anyone else can do on a computer. I'm not saying the DJ profession is wrong in itself, but surly the elitism that surrounds turntables is wrong. Professional DJ's could do so much more with software mixing rather than hardware mixing, giving the consumer much more for their money.

I'm not closed to a reply, but i can see no reason for the turntable DJ to be 'superior' to the software DJ, i mean i know that turntable mixing is much harder (i have decks and i haven't mastered them after a couple of years, although it has to be said i haven't been trying hard) but that doesn't really matter because the output remains the same. Anyway, thats my thoughts, what do you guys think?

The satisfaction of mixing on a a turntable is greater than seeing a computer help you, first off Traktor shows you the BPM which is highley not considered to even be Djing.

Seriously go mix on a turntable, it's way different than mixing on crap ass programs.

'turntable mixing is harder'??? i found traktor super hard, yes it matched the BPM, but it just sounded crap and went off beat. Turntables you have more control over it since you have TWO hands mixing.

You can disable it by clicking on the counter and then clicking "Set from tap in" after each track is loaded. It will show 0.0 all the time then.

Oh ok didn't know that. BUT i still consider MP3 mixing programs fake. Despite a program helping you or not, you are still not mixing on the real deal.

Not to comment on you skills but in general TTs and Cd players are a lot easier and more comfortable to use than some computer program, where you have to do everyhting with your mouse or keyboard. Besides, software crashes, TTs do not. It would be just lame if Djs started to sit behind their computers during their gigs instead of dancing and "interacting" with the crowd, it would be just lame.
Also for those who scratch, it would be impossible to do cool thing with a computer. No offense but personally i do not consider people who "Dj" with computers to be Djs att all.. It just looses the whole idea...

Besides, Turntables ar KEWL! :D :D

its like comparing that for example: You have been syudying for 5 years and you get your graduate ingeneer title... thats how it should be, but u can also go to the mafia and buy a Pirate Title... at the end of bouth.. u will have the same... Studyng for 5 years.. or paying the money for the pirate tile...

but... who ingeneer will be better??... who pays to the mafiosos??? I dont think so...

i hope u get the idea.

There's something about spinning...yeah, it is loads more satisfying (just makes me smile thinking about it) when you change those bass eq's on phrase and you're like, "Damn, I'm sweet." I can't picture using a program at all to DJ. Some people swear by that e, but, eh...not me.

Yes but final scratch is still mixing via turntables.

I also dont consider MP3 mixing to be DJing. I can't explain why I feel this way, but it is not real to me. If you are mixing with MP3's you are not a DJ in my eyes.
