i have to agree with mr sleek here. the girl to guy ratio at trance related or even edm related events is just terrible. What i think the problem is, i ask alot of girls i know this question and get the same answer everytime.
me: "why dont you girls goto clubs"
girls i know: "because everytime we go, we feel like were getting violated by all the guys touching my ass or making me dance witht hem and we dont like that"
basically, they stereo type all clubs into being like that which is why you more often or not see more guys then girls at these events. sure they're exceptions to this, but this is definitely one reason why we see more guys then girls at these events. |
you can't forget the fact that half the girls here on long island listen to other music (rap, hip-hop, r&b, pop ). Atleast my friends do. I can never get them to come to any clubs with me because they don't enjoy the music that I enjoy. my friends go to grimey clubs that play music and have guys who will come right behind you and stick their wang against your ass. maybe your friends think thats what every club is like. i find that going to clubs that play our kind of music have much more classier people there. i also think that the majority of people who enjoy trance or other edm are guys, it just seems that way. atleast in nyc.
i have to admitt though, it was really pathetic when about 10 guys piled on one of the platforms in the back of roxy at pvd last friday. they all had their shirts off and were doing fist pumps and , it was sooooo bad. i can see how that'd turn guys off. |

DanAX: If you want only good DJs and good clubs, that's fine with me too. . .
but don't get on my case when I say I like something more - while it may be fine for you to chill with a bunch of dudes, its just not my definition of a good time.
I was introduced to trance at a time when the scene had more weight behind it - I went to some events I will never forget as long as I live. When I go to see a trance DJ in NYC, I want to get those feelings again.
And Busy Child: We are in total agreement. May explain why I haven't been overly excited about ANY trance event for quite some time.
Again, back to the original point: the trance scene in NYC is weak. The lack of girls hilights this painfully obvious fact, as a lack of women at a DANCE event is generally a bad thing. If anything is to serve to change this, I believe it would start here, with the fans.
Peace,
Slick |

If you wanna see more chicks go to a freaking Hip-Hop party, I am sure you gonna see a lot of girls over there...
Respect the Muzik,
Respect the DJ. |
DJs are juke boxes
some are better juke boxes than others
lets not forget that the music is super important part to the party, but you must look at the whole picture. |

That's true in EXIT, ROXY, AVALON, not ARC...
Like I said there are people go to club for good muzik, and there are people go to club for gals... |
most girls i know dont wanna go to clubs just for GOOD MUSIC.
they wanna go to have a good time, and Music is one aspect of having a good time. |

i think there would be more girls at a gabriel and dresden event, you got to appeal to the masses. Guys are good with searching for music and stuff on the internet and not many girls are into that, they have other things to worry about(not all). Its cool for a guy to be a dj but i dont see that many girl djs so if there are more female djs i think things could also change in the female/male ratio you see in the crowd
Things will change when EDM goes a bit more mainstream, but instead of bitching about it try to get more girls into the scence and into the clubs
Didnt we have a thread about this already? |

What kind of a date is going to a dirty club with loud, jumpy music? I used to always bring a girl with me, but end result ====> a) I'd arrive late b/c the date spent too much time getting ready b) I'd have to babysit the date and watch out for all the creeps trying to get their bone-on, like me c) I'd have to leave early b/c the date got tired. All jokes aside, I do go for the music. When I pay to see that DJ I want to hear all that I can, but hell if I'm going to dance while pressed up against a bunch of sweaty guys. I'm not looking to find a wife at the party, but a decent guy/girl ratio shouldn't be too much to ask for, should it? |

I see you all are very passionate about Trance. And that is why I hate to tell you this but. NYC is NOT conducive to the Trance scene. I’m not sure it ever will.
What makes a good event is the crowd. Those of you attending Ultra this year will see the difference. Do what I did. Move.

If you’re not going to move, then consider the possibility that the Trance Scene in NY is better off underground. |

Date? You need not 'DATE' girs you go clubbing with. In fact, that allows you the freedom to bring more along. |
