OMG, what can I say! I can't believe it's over, I want more but don't think I can handle it ;)

Well since I can go on and on about WMC as a whole I think I'll stick to the topic and just review Ultra here.
First thing Sat after leaving the room, we run into mad TAs leaving the hotel (Hope, Jeff, Sara, and the ATL gang)... nice! We split up after that, Maciej and I go to get our drink on at Hooters :p Then head down to Ultra at about 4. I was rocking my tranceaddict shirt so I met some Cali TAs in the line to get tickets, and then many others inside later. First TA we meet up with inside is Sara (thanks for texting me) and head over to see Johan, end up meeting up with most of the group there.

Johan Gilen - surprise to the event for me. I had never heard any of his sets before and normally I don't like my trance that hard, but the man had the place going off! :eyes: Fuggin SIIIIIICK! He was still playing when I was informed Way Out West was about to start, so I had to leave.

Way Out West - OMG chilling to their music as the sun was setting was so sweet. I just wish they weren't cut so short. One of my favorites of the day, great to hear the classic "The Gift" live. Got seperated from everyone and chilled solo but ran into Phil, his friend, Ryan, Sarah 2.0, Greg, and Cyn right after, nice. All go to head over to the ampitheater before Tiesto but somehow get split up and it's just me, Sarah 2.0, and Ryan.

Junkie XL - cuaght the tail end of it and wasn't impressed. Liked the remix of Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right tho.

Tiesto - OMG! better than what I saw of him at Space if you ask me. Great vibe during the whole set.

P. Diddy - what a ing joke! "GET DIDDY OF THE STAGE" I was screaming. Stick to rap buddy.

Oakenfold - decent, but I was hoping for classic Oakey. Southern Sun was a good moment. His set at Space last night however owned the place if you ask me. Have some damn respect for the most historically known trance DJ!! About halfway through, decide to try to find everyone else cuz they went to see Ferry.

Sasha & Digweed - they were still playing when we got the the main stage and at first were friggin boooooring, got a little better at the end tho.

Ferry - a standard Ferry set, good but not surprising. Once again he was better at Space last night (in part due to the Holding on to Nothing factor :p ). The whole group finally reunited here and we all head back to the ampitheater to get there for PVD. Brent! glad to finally see you at this point. Also awesome seeing Jay's (Toronto TA) slick glowstick moves here.

Chemical Brothers - caught the last bit before PVD... blah.

Paul Van Dyk - somewhat of an uninspiring set if you ask me compared to the night before at Space which destroyed it. Also, everyone was hanging out way up in the grass area and the acoustics or delay to the speakers must have been bad because it was sounding like he was trainwrecking almost every mix, but I knew that wasn't possible. Then... "oh no, he's not gonna end on Wundervoll"

Afterwards went to meet up with Phil and co to possibly go to Ferry, walked in to the room and was like "damn, wrong room.... oh wait you guys are the ATL TAs" Heh. don't think I could see straight at that point. Ended up chilling with them and whoever those peeps in the adjacent room where all night, couldn't sleep for "reasons". Good times, good times. Sara was damn silly *cough* baked *cough* And guys, I don't know if we should listen to any of the dumb ideas that come out of my mouth when I'm f'ed up LOL!! :stongue:

Well, that was Ultra! I will post some pics hopefully later tonight.

DAMN RIGHT. Essential Mix world tour PWNED.

Had an awesome time for my first Ultra! My brother and his friends had been to all of them before but they almost always fell on the same date as the spring break car shows in daytona. Well I will say I will never pass up ultra to go to one of those again! I loved all the mainstage performers, but the "fight for your right to party" by junkieXL was the . I am already looking forward to next year and will have some pics up as soon as I can!:toocool:

wow what a week just got home

my comments about ultra

junkie xl ing stole the show!!!!! that man is freakin crazy, chain smoking, jumping up and down, doing kicks, drinking a beer with the crowd and playing sick tracks and after meeting him on tuesday actually a really nice guy

johan gielan put on a great set many of tas enjoyed that set

donald glaude is still a crazy sick bastard

satashi tomile is freaking smooth

the big djs were kinda disappointing this year at ultra
Fredz21
kicked ass :D it was more of a last minute thing, but i made it to the TA group arround PvD starting(nice timing heh)

it was far more organized than last years, getting from one place to the other wasn;t a bitch, unlike previous times, the lines were decent, I was with a couple of old friends from back home, and if it weren;t for that bitch that frisked me all over :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: (for s sake, i'm in a bathing suit!!!) I would say it was a VERY GOOD party :D

then Jeff Mills for FREE @ BED sunday night :eyespop: :eyes: :eyespop: :eyes: :eyespop: :eyes: WOW!!!!!!!!! I thought this WMC was going to be a tad mellow, he proved me wrong.

World of Drum and Base was impressive as well. I've seen Acosta, and Edgar @ maze, but Craze started out his set with some VERY LOW FREQs & a bad ass baseline that just made say DAYUM!!!!!!! the rest of the night was just impressive as well

Ultra 6 was in incredible.. by far the best outdoor edm festival in the States.. the whole prouction was done almost flawlessly.. only thing that was 'off' were the time slots for djs which was all messed up[who knows, djs not showing up, technical difficulties.. etc] and the confusion of the Progressive Area and the House tent... the Prog area werent ready til like 7pm so some of the djs scheduled to play in the Prog area spun in the house tent.. whatevers tho i frequently checked both areas to see who was spinnin where...

we walked into Ultra around 1:30pm to see Corvin Dalek banging it the out..lol in the Bass Walk records area.. walked around for a bit checked out the whole park and went up to the Amphitheater to catch Sander spin.. he started off pretty slow.. and like 10 mins into the set, he accidently touched the master volume of the mixer and the sound decreased dramatically.. obviously Sander didnt notice cuz the monitors were loud as .. eventually he realized and turned it back up.. by that time i got sorta bored with his selection of tracks so we went back down.. Luke Fair was playing in the Bass Walk area and had the crowd going with some nice prog and tech house.. i was diggin his set..[i need to checkout IHWT 3..] Akko thought he was maad cute.. heh.

Around 4/5pm or so went in the house tent and Chris Fortier was on.. good stuff.. stayed til the end of his set and James Holden came on next.. he was good but the tracks were too slow and lacking energy for an outdoor festival like ultra.. some tracks work in clubs and some tracks work outdoors.. james was throwing down a lot of club style tracks.. anyway we left the house tent and walked around, got a bite to eat and caught Johan Gielen on the bass walk area.. he had the crowd going nuts especially when Sosei was played but had to it up with a pretty ugly trainwreck.. i felt bad cuz up until that point, his set was very hi energy[although he played few cheese, it still made u dance..] after the trainwreck, we left that area.. went to checkout WOW live but since the schedules were all ed up, they werent on yet..

WOW live was very good.. the singer[forget her name] can really sing.. aint no studio only type of singer.. she sounded sweet live.. with the WOW's heavy rounded basslines and crisp snares.. it was more a listenable set tho.. not too much 'makin u dance' oriented...
after a little bit of WOW, we went back up to the Amphitheater and Dirty Sticky Floors was playing.. what mix ? lol.. JXL's of course.. oh man... JUNKIE XL was definitely the highlight of this year's Ultra.. 130bpm tracks never moved me so much for so long like JXL's did.. his live performance was in awesome.. and is a very animated artist.. the remake of Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right couldnt have came on at a better time.. it was just perfect.. perfect crowd, perfect atmosphere, perfect track.. and listening to Beauty Never Fades on a 60,000 watts system was just insane... maaaad respects to yet another Dutchman.

After Junkie's set Tiesto came on which meant, it was time to leave amphitheater.. lol we went back down to the progressive area and guess what, Steve Lawler was behind the decks, just workin it... and wtf ???? Lawler playing MELODIC PROGRESSIVE TRANCE ???? haha i couldnt believe my ears... whatever the , he was on point.. dope ass basslines and fresh synths.. i wish i came down earlier but couldnt on Junkie.. after Lawler it was Miss Sandra Collins.. heard little bit of her set we left to the Ultra Sound stage to see Infusion playing their last track.. !!! missed out one of the main acts wanted to checkout.. all good. next time... after them it was James Zabiela.. his stuff was funky as usual what was ill was they had a fashion by AX during JZ's set.. about 50 models came out in pairs.. that was HOT... so around 9pm or so, we go back to the prog area to catch one of my fav. djs, Dave Ralph... he was waiting for Sandra to finish just standing around.. i approached him and bitched to him about all the r-factor releases that are loooong overdue... he looked a bit emabarrased and told me the labels put everything on delay but it should be out soon..

Dave Ralph spun a dope ass set.. only thing was that there was some sound trouble during his set.. it was due to them rushing to prepare the prog area.. all good tho besides that the flow and the material in dave's set was fantastik.. after dave finished Gabriel & Dresden came on.. played their usual stuff.. i asked Josh if he can play Depeche Mode - Here Is The House[G&D bootleg mix] and he dropped it as the final track.. thank you Josh ! during G&D's set i got to talk to Sadra Collins for a long time.. about an hour.. she is definitely the coolest professional dj ive ever had the chance to talk to.. very friendly like a girl next door and funny as hell ! very good sense of humor.. chatted about this n that, told her her new mix compilation was off the hook[especially disc 2] and talked about a certain record we both owned.. she was complaing about the booth set up how she couldnt hear well hehe. it was cute how she was defending herself when i didnt even question anything.. she hung out for a while and left.. then it was Satoshi Tommiie.. didnt get to listen to his set much.. but i did mention to him that i loved his style of production and the new Chab release on SAW...

so we leave ultra around 12am tryin to catch a cab before it got too hectic.. we still ended up walking around for about an hour to catch one.. all in all very sick and amazing night[once again] and this year i learned alot more about the industry.. cant wait til next year.. peace to everyone i met in miami.. John, Michelle, Tom, Lisa, Brianna, Jay, Arturo.. you guys rock.. another memory stored that will never fade.. Beauty.

Finally back from Miami. Back to reality where the weather is 40 degree's colder and the sun isn't always shining. Words cannot explain the experience of Ultra and WMC. If your truely a lover of the music then an pilgrimage to Ultra is a must.

Here is a list of what I remember seeing

Electric Sky Chuch with D:FUSE on drums

Trip Theory

Uberzone

DJ Dan

Josh Wink

DMP

James Holden

Reid Speed

Johan Gielen

Palaash

Hernan Cattaneo

Steve Lawler

Sandra Collins

Satoshi Tomiee

James Zabiella- OmfG that's all I can say. I now know all the hype about this young talent. It was cool that they had the A/X models going up and down the stage during his set.

Way Out West- WoW that's all I can say. Nick, Jody, and there vocalist were thrilling.

Infusion (live)

Sasha & Digweed- Need I say more?

Rabbit In The Moon- Supernatural. I can't remember the guys name, but he has white dreads and wear's all the customes came onto the stage at the beginning of the set. He had on a straight jacket which he was being hung on by a roap. He was slowly being pulled up the top of the stage's ceiling. The music started roaring and he was pulled back down slowly. Once he was down the music was going and he was dancing around the stage looking eerie. After a few moments the jacket was off, and he proceeded to jump into the crowd. Once he was back on stage he changes into a custome, which was all black and had small lights covering the outfit. He stares into one side of the crowd and the custome and music start getting brighter and brighter, he follows and does the same to the other side of the crowd while he throws a huge beach ball into the crowd. After a few more records he then changes into another custome that is black and white stripped with several arms hanging from it. We started to try and make our way out of the crowd to go and catch PvD. From what I could see on the screen it looked like he broke out the pyro, and a female dancer with pyro as well.

Junkie XL

Tiesto

Oakie

Pete Tong

Chris Fortier

Perry Ferrel (Janes Addiction)- Horrible. He train wrecked every single mix.

Tommy Lee and DJ- I personaly enjoyed the set. The DJ wasn't the greatest, but Tommy's drum set made up for it. The fact that was so into what he was doing even made it better for me.

Chemical Brother- We were expecting a live show but instead got a DJ set. I didn't catch alot of there set as I was trying to make my way down for RITM.

Paul Van Dyk- Paul by far had the biggest crowd out of all the other set's and groups I saw that night. Total ing ownage

Saturday after Ultra we didn't get to make it to any of the afterparties. 11 hours of walking, standing, and dancing in the sun does something to your body.

Sunday was another day packed with ton's of things to do. We made to South Beach around 6 in the evening. We were walking up and down the strip, looking for free parties. We managed to get into the Event.Com pool party at The Clevelander. Ran into local Nashvillians Emily and Vanessa. We made our way around to front which at that point we found out that DJ Dan was on the decks. He was playing for a crowd of about 4 to 5 hundred people. After a few more Donald Glaude stepped up the decks. Simply ing amazing. They way Donald fed of the crowd made his set a million times better.

Sunday night we made our way to see Derrick Carter, Yousef, Miss Honey Dejon, Gene Farris, DJ Jazzy Jeff from Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and DJ Collete. Once again we ran into several peeps from Nashville. Derrick Carter was on ing point. I've never experienced house music like that. Blew me away.

Monday we were invited to a private party with Digital WitchCraft, John"00" Fleming, and Moda. If your into the progressive genre Digital WitchCraft is a must to check out. Need I say more about JooF?

After the private party we made our way down to The Ritz Hotel. Remix magazine threw a free party with Reid Speed, Dara, JuJu and a few other DnB names. Wasn't feeling the vibe to much at that party. Pool party and DnB for me just didn't seem like a good combination.

Monday night was The World of DnB. With Andy C, Twisted Individual, Planet of the Drums, DJ Craze, SS, Shy FX, GrooveRider, Fabio, John B, Pendulam, MC Sharpness, MC J-Messian, MC MC, Killa Kella and MC Trip, MC Skibadee just to name a few that I could remember. I honestly have a new found love for DnB. Everyone of those guys blew me the away.
