Hmm.. makes perfect sense - sure... Let's not blame Hitler, Lenin, Stalin... All they did was talk... They didn't actually kill people... they just asked, in a "firm tone of voice".

That's why I never could survive in the military - I cannot stop using my head. When someone tells me that I have to do something, my first question is "WHY?". But... some people live better when someone tells them what to do, what to think, etc.

I respect your freedom of speech but I want you to respect other people's freedom as well. Freedom comes with price - responsibility for your actions.

However, when you air movie like "Passion" to masses, you're bound to hit at least one target with whom this garbage would strike a note and provoke for evil.

If you take millions of people who will see this movie, some of whom are devout antisemites, who are not afraid to act - what you get is your proverbial "adding fuel to the fire".

I don't understand the value of this movie. What does it portray? How does it help a Christian/Catholic/whoever be closer to the Bible? The main message in the movie is not "Christ died for your sins" it is "Jews killed Jesus".

Now, take just one case, just 1 - if someone decides to take a life of another human being after seeing this movie, because he/she feels the movie provoked these emotions - wouldn't it be a worthwhile reason to protest and scream out in anger - to make people aware? So, before you tell me to shuddup and call me names and flame me - think about that... Think - is even one life worth it?

I don't buy the b-s about "Oh, I wanted to do something for the people" - he's sowing the seed of hate and makes money on it at the same time. He stands to make something obscene - in realm of $300 Mil or more for the movie, while pushing his antisemite agenda. While promoting his movie, I didn't hear Mel promissing to donate any of the money to world's hungry (non-jewish) children or poor. If he wanted to do it for his faith, he should have said: "I'm not making a dime on this movie - it will all go to charity".. and even then, his intentions would be dubious, at best.

Well, all I know is if someone does end up getting hurt as a result of seeing this movie, you'll probably see some lawsuits being filed against Mel. It would be sad, sad, sad day but I hope they sue him and get him for all he's got. Though, loss of human life would be a terrible tragedy - even his. If something should happen - let it be on his conscience - that he added fuel to the fire.

User your own brain, end of story.

"..thou shall not kill"

Mel actually ploughd lots of money into this film because no one would invest, so he took a risk to make it, so why cant he take the reward from it? he does not recieve ALL the money made, because that is distrubuted out.

From what i know Mel is a very good man. He leads a model life and he is never in the news for anything bad, or thats what i know off. He has lots of kids and respects his wife like a good husband...(if i got this wrong well then im sorry)

If you think a film like this causes people to use it as an excuse to do horrible actions, then u may as well stop nearly everyhting in life. e.g.
Car kills people everyday, so lets just stop ppl using cars.
Films too, lets stop horror movies coz u give ppl the incentive to use that film as a means of killing someone, or even murder detective programmes like CSI or something, and u can know how to commit the perfect crime. The list is endless...

If you're comparing Hitler and Lenin and Stalin to MM M&M and Britney Spears, we have a problem. Hateful men with the control of a nation are far more dangerous than angry, disturbed and slutty public icons, in my opinion anyway. Of course you're entitled to your own opinion, which is ' Mel Gibson, passionately.' The Jews did kill Jesus Christ, it's a fact, get over it. If someone wants to use this as a reason to desecrate a Synagogue, then so be it; they are horrible people. Don't project your anger onto a man who wrote a movie.

No one told those vandels to do any of that. Unless it's a Neo-Nazi faction. If it is, then they were ordered to that, and you should hate their superiors. What did Mel do you to you? :p

You cannot blame other people's actions on someone else. The end does not condemn the means, if I can bastardise the phrase. You have the freedom to state your opinion on Mel Gibson, founded or not. He has the right to write a movie, controversial or not. No one has the right to piss on someone's beliefs and disrespect people like that.

BTW, one of the main characters in Shindler's list is a German, who was actually helping jews. It wasn't just the brutality of Germans. Same with the new movie "The Pianist".

That's not the point though..

The point is that Mel Gibson knew very well when he was making Passion that this movie would provoke acts of vandalism, antisemitism etc. Yet whenever he was asked about the movie being antisemitic he just shrugged it off.

BTW, Mel's father has admitted to be antisemitic. Mel Gibson probably is as well, though obviously he will never admit that publically.

If the only message you got out of the movie was that Jews killed Jesus, then you were probably an anti-semite before you went out to see it.

I personally think it's ridiculous that people have to censor that into which they put in their creativity, hard work, and dedication just to ensure that a few stupid people don't do something bad. Should we not have car movies because it'll inspire car thieves and racers? Should we not make action movies because it'll inspire people to go out and start shooting up buildings? Get real.

You're right. Freedom does come with responsibility for your actions - as opposed to responsibility for other people's actions.

Unless Mel Gibson is actually the person doing the vandalism, he isn't responsible for it, but rather the people who are actually vandalizing are responsible for the vandalism.

I know this is complicated stuff, but c'mon.
