I wouldn't go so far as to say that "he hasn't been good" as he is most definitely good, perhaps just not AS GOOD as he once was. Every artist has their highs and lows, perhaps he just needs something to stimulate his creativity. Unless you're Oakie, how can you really know?

He obviously has a strong entrepreneurial spirit, but can you really fault him for that? After all, he's in the entertainment industry and in that industry marketing your product (yourself, your record label, etc.) is how one makes money. Oakie's not a raver, so I'm sure that he sees things in a totally different (can we say Capitalistic?) light. |

I agree. A couple of years ago he said "the US isn't ready for my music". Now he is tryin to conquer America by touring... playing the same set in every city. With him its not really bout the music..its bout him, $, his name, $, & dropping the Perfecto flags & songs. He puts on a show. I think he believes he's more a rock star than DJ. U don't see PVD dropping Vandit banners when he plays. :rolleyes: If Oakie was really bout the music he wouldn't demand 23 G's an hour forcing the promoter's to charge more than $40 a ticket. Where's the love? :rolleyes: |

It's not your opinion itself that i have a problem with...its your hostility and your accusations without ever having any proof or backup... basically you are always saying that Oakie "sucks" and you "hate" him, but never give any other reasons than the ones that obviously aren't true (the four you previously listed...)
What i am saying is that i understand people have opinions on here... duh, this is a bulletin board. I know. But when most people post their "dislike" (NOT hatred, mind you) for a DJ, they give reasons.... personal experiences. I am not going to say that i think Armin van Buuren is an , just b/c i read that somewhere... i don't know, never even seen the guy live, much less met him!
Granted, you can still have your opinions even if you haven't met him, or his set wasn't you're favorite... but what i really dislike about your posts is that all your posts are always ATTACKING Oakie. Its one thing to say that you don't think he's a good mixer, you hate his track selection, etc.... but EVERY SINGLE POST i've seen you put up here on TA in the last 3 months has been an attack on Oakie. It just sounds soooooooo repetitive to me... and i'm sure others.
You can dislike Oakie, thats fine. Just try to drop some of the hostility, and maybe throw in a personal experience (even if its just 1) as to why you dislike Oakie... And if you list any of your original 4 reasons that you posted on here, please allow me to purchase a ticket to the next Oakie show up there for you - so you can see what you are missing. Oakie is not the same DJ he was 6 months ago let alone last year! His sets are completely different, its amazing! I can post about this all day long, i've seen him twice in the last 4 months, (the last time being last weekend)....
Like i said i have no problem with your opinion.... just how you express it, and you might be mislead or misinformed...

I think its obvious that Oakie is not only all about the music... think about it, he is already LOADED...... you really think he'd put himself through this rigourous touring schedule across the world (non-stop for over a year), if it WASN'T about the music? And if he's only doing it for the money, how come he is one of the most animated DJ's in the booth? This guy is dancing all over the place, extending his arms at the climaxes, dancing with attendees, etc....
why would you strenuate yourself so bad??? trust me, i know :D
And about PvD not dropping banners while he plays..... heheh, i didn't see PvD himself do it, but club Space had a Vandit banner up during his show a couple months back - it was right under the DJ booth. Tiesto had Black Hole signs EVERYWHERE at the WMC down here....But this point is really stupid!
And as far as if Oakie "really loved the music he wouldn't charge 23G's an hour..." dude, its 22 G's for 2 hours!!! And second, does this mean you don't like Every single Rock, Pop, and Rap group in the world? Because when they put on concerts, that is the amount (if not more) that they are demanding per venue....
And, Twilo, did you take Economics class in high school? lol... simple supply and demand... i'll give you an example...
say you "love" Hondas... you want to sell your civic.. and you could get $10,000 for it, but because you love Hondas so much, you'd sell it for $5,000!??? come on, if people are going to pay for it, you are going to charge it... plain and simple.... and i am STILL researching to find out how much PvD commands, but i'm betting its pretty close to that number!

I have NEVER said "Oakie sux" or that I hate him. I ALWAYS put forth an intelligent arguement w/reasons to support my claims. I posted a kid's review of Oakie's sat this past saturday. I have seen Oakie 3x...was never impressed. He has insulted us & continues to do but dumbing down the music & commericializing it. He thinks its ok for him to play Eisabaer..we won't know that its 4 years old! Cause we are soo behind here.

Thats very sweet of you. Trust me I'm not missing anything...ppl that saw him this past sat want a refund. When I go out I like to hear new tunes not 4 yr old played out tunes..but hey thats just me. Plus I'm leaving for Ibiza in 9 days for a month. My suggestion to U is go out & see as many DJ's as u can. I feel once u do u'll see there is much better talent out there.

Oakie played Tiesto's Urban Train, Tall Paul's Precious Heart (I think that was it), and many more that were just so penetrating that I became lost in my dancing. Friday's set (8.17.01) was terrific in my opinion.
Oh, and I paid $35 for my ticket this time around, and $20 the last time (4.08.01)... not TOO bad considering the premium that Oakie commands. The tickets were sold out but I managed to get one at the door anyway as the club's box office keeps a small amount (something like 150?) on hand.
