Any DJ that consistently trainwrecks sux ass in my book. I've been spinning for only 6 months and I can school the guy as far as mixing skills. $20,000/hour for his ? I can give you a better show for free.

Twilo - I don't want to start an argument, but please explain to me WHY commercialized songs are bad. If its a good song, and it touches that chord inside of you, why should it matter how popular it is? If it moves your feet; moves your soul, then why should its genre determine if its crap or not? Maybe we just don't catagorize music the same way :)

nice little argument, i like to sit on the fence and watch, but i like oakey when he plays song that i like, and sometimes he sucks.
But overall i think he plays songs that i like, i like his selection of songs, i like him, simple |

First of all its ABT, not ATB.... thanks.
Why do i like Oakenfold so much? I really don't like him THAT much, but the key here is that i think he DOESN'T suck.... again, for the millionth time i have said how i've seen him 8 times... and i don't know why everyone says he trainwrecks so much... i've only seen him do it once... and one time a record scratched but that was b/c he bumped the tables... thats it.
As far as track selection, i seem to be the only person in the world who thinks that this is one of Oakie's fortes.... contrary to what people say on these boards, oakie doesn't play the same stale tracks over and over again... he did for a period of time, but that was a tour for his double-CD, and he was spinning tracks OFF the double CD... now he spins a little bit of everything..... kinda innovative.
And when i see him live, his songs make me feel good, seamless transitions..... you can't complain when you hear good mixing and track selection... but according to what you have told me, twilo, apparently Miami is the only place Oakie likes to put his gameface on and spin for real i guess....
On another note, i'm tired of this Oakie bickering. I'm spent.

| ing hell argueing over Oakie, Ok right I'm not his greatest fan but he's a ing good DJ you can't diss him for that, to me personally he isn't even in the slightest as good as Tiesto, or PVD, but on the other hand he's had me stomping a few times, now to your Americans stop the moaning, be glad he actually pays attention to your country he ing kicks brits in teeth after all the endless waves of people who went to Cream every week to see him play his famous sets on the courtyard are to thank for a great part of building up his reputation, I think over here we're actually lucky if Oakie plays here 5 times a year and usually 3 of them are festivals, like Gatecrasher Summer Soundsystem and Creamfields, so be happy with what you've got and in my view people say Oakies overated nah nah Sasha and ing Diggers are the overated ones PERIOD! have them keep them I hope they never play in UK again! |
