Well, it's true most people in America, those who don't listen to electronica, are very ignorant when it comes to discerning electronic styles and typically frown on the gengre altogether. However, as a USTA I would love for US radio stations to play more electronica, so as to remove the dirty stigma it seems to have here in the States. |

| I'd actually like to see trance get more mainstream. I'm cool with it if it stays how it is, but with more exposure you get more chances for a new genius artist entering the scene. Sure the cheese factor goes up as well, but it's not like you can get rid of it completely. |

I got some great progressive and harder type of trance from this radio station in Rotterdam , they allways play quality sets on sat nights, oh and how about radio 538
In hungary the bad thing trance and techno is so popular , its hard to choose wich radio stations you going to listening on the weekends becouse at least 7-8 plays trance,techno on radio station in Budapest |

As long as it doesn't become merely a niche thing rather than underground. By that I mean the popularity that "Castles in the sky," "sandstorm," and "heaven" each got. As long as it becomes more than that... hell ya, lets get some more trance in the states.
I'm not going to lie, many times I play music other than trance, for the pure sake of embarrasment. (Kids in the dorms just don't get it sometimes, and I'm sure as hell not going to be the weird kid who listens to 'techno' all the time). So I mix it up. |

in daytime they play britney, christina and justin. in weekends they sometimes have sets.
and you have id-t radio but the only show that has many listiners is ASOT and Q-dance on wednesday nights. |

| Well like i said in the other forum topic..the US just frown on raves..they think if its trance/techno, its got drugs flow to it, cause X is a big thing here. Like they had a radio station here that is new& starded off playing some trance( not quality we know) but close enough to get something starded, but then hip hop just..over ran all of it out. Its just that Hip hop is big here..and what ever's kicking pretty much gets all the attention..for all the events going on cause it sells.:( But yeah..its kinda keeped under ground here, ..well tiesto came last year to Houston, it was awsome..but..its not a usual thing like in europe. Electronica,techno,trance..is everywhere & kicking..like i have friends from Venezuela saying its awsome, lost of people, mexico, australia..canada even, but the US is closeminded on it cause of the drug thing. Thats all i know. |

Dj luna has lots of good productions from 95 on the thunderdome cds plus luna spins good techno, at least Luna can spin 3 different styles

Ok, I'll be the first "arrogant" american to say that I would prefer that trance remain more "underground" than popular or commercial as it is in Europe or other places. This is not to say that I would not still love trance if such were the case, however. Personally, I'm sick of constantly meeting people who are only into a genre because it's the "thing to do" or it's popular or whatever. They seem to lack any dedication or any true appreciation for the music other than "it's what everyone else listens to." I only got into trance in 98 and before then I was into every single other genre from rap to heavy metal and I saw plenty of examples of that type of mentality. Granted there are those same types of people who are trying to do something "different" with trance, but those people seem less prevalent and you're far more likely to meet people who actually LOVE the music.
If you could keep the same ratio of types of people for when trance is underground as opposed to commerical than I'd be all for commerical. |

Luna - hardcore, hardstyle,hard techno
Carl Cox - house, techno
Konflict - drum n bass, breakbeat
Dj rap - breaks, drum n bass
Omar Santana - breaks , hardcore
Ak1200 - breaks, drum n bass
Frankie bones - drum n bass, techno, trance, hardcore
theres many djs who spin more then one styles, of course they dont mix 3-4 styles in one set |

Ok my question is, if you would live in Europe would you hate trance ? Becouse you know in Europe trance is popular and Mtv, VH1 and most tv and radio stations play trance on they playlist.

I never read anyone saying that they didn't want trance going mainstream.. What a bunch of twats if they said that.
That's not showing love for trance, why the hell wouldn't you want it becoming popular? I'd love it to just because the local djs here aren't getting much publicity outside america, even though they command an audience the same size that alot of international djs do, I'd love to see them succeed. |
