Oh right, im conservative because thats a bad word in politics these days, at least to liberal pussies, and I disagree with you. There we go, I am a Conservative OOOHHHH nooooo. yeah I am, proud of it. Its amazing how many ty cars are sporting the "Gore" stickers still and the nice cars either have NO bumper stickers because they are classy enough to not have them or the republican "conservative" candidates. Anyways, liberals are always in the street screaming about some injustice while all the "conservatives" are running the country and then going to their nice homes they actually worked for. |
That whole argument about bumper stickers is nonsense. Conservatives are classy enough not to have them in their cars? WTF. Have you ever been to a trailer park? You see re-elect Bush/Cheney stickers everywhere. White trash America is so classy! :haha: They vote Republican and make conservative governance possible, even if the whole ideology goes against their economic interest.
| quote: | | Which brings me to the next point. We are talking percentages here. You say you went to Idaho and took a representative sample of the population...mmmhmm ok. Well...lets do some other "representative" samples and take a look at prison populations. 50% are black. that means that 16% percent of the nation makes up 50% of the prisons...but wait! 50% of that 16% is male! So about 9% of our population makes up 50%. Say what you want about the criminal justice system, but thats ed no matter how much prejudice you read into it. |
That's a factor directly related to socio-economic strata, which can be traced to their starting point in this nation as ing capital commodities. There's no real correlation between sociopathic criminal behavior and race if that's what your wrongfully trying to imply.
| quote: | | Hey, also what has black culture brought to America? Industry? Morality? What? What has it done to make this country better? I want to hear your argument towards all the great things that blacks have done for this country. Whites brought capitalism, industry, and a work ethic. So did the chinese too, ill not leave them out. |
1. When the US was a developing country, slavery provided a ridiculous labor surplus that facilitated this country to prosper in an exponential level that would've been impossible to parallel if they had been paid any wages at all, let alone proper wages. Southern entrepeneurship funded northern industrialization, and the slavery factor gave the US an edge over the world.
2. CULTURE! The African legacy gave America its soul, flavor and spice. This country would not be the same without it. Spirituals, Jazz, blue, rock & roll, hip hop. These are cultural tenets of the 20th century American culture. It wouldn't have happened if it weren't for black America.
Hell, even edm would probably not exist if it weren't for middle class post-industrial black America in the Midwest. We would probably not even be in this forum right now. That's a fact.
| quote: | disregarding "THEY WERE ALL BROUGHT HERE" crap, even though THEIR OWN PEOPLE SOLD THEM TO US FOR BOOZE, whats your argument?
You CANNOT say that their culture is a good thing right now, you just cant. And to pick out the exceptions and use them as a norm is ridiculous. Your "black" friends that like anime? Who gives a . Some people masturbate to smelly shoes. See the connection? Yeah, there isnt one. |
Their culture is historically more meaningful than yours. And it is used as an instrument of cultural imperialism abroad, even embraced by the American business class that you adore so much.
| quote: | | They ARE NOT special. They have gone through so much less hardship than the other races comparatively as towards invasions and what not, im not talking civil wars. They are good at infighting, I will admit, but no other countries really decided "thats it we are taking over Africa and killing them all" that happened to China, Japan, Mongolia, All of the Middle East, Britain, Spain, France, Greece, name it. Africa never really got invaded. So if you want to talk about people who have come up from the dirt, its EVERYONE but Blacks in America. And like BET doesnt help. Someone lobbied for that. |
Oh ok, the invasion of the African continent by the British, Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish, Belgian, etc. is a figment of our imagination. Thanks for the factoid.
| quote: | | If its such a bad image and non-archetypal of their society, than by God they should lobby to get it off. But every time i go into the TV lounge at my college, and all the blacks are there, its on....*drumroll......* BET!!!! and they get pissed and violent if you try to change it!!!! |
BET sucks. But so does MTV and anything on TV. So you don't get along with blacks. OK, point taken. I think we got that by now.
| quote: | We arent talking straight numbers, there are less of them. We are talking percentages here. and as much as everyone hates the "model minority" idea, everyone who "came here voluntarily" unlike the blacks is kicking ass and making a name.
/rant. |
Oh yeah, blacks are not making a name for themselves. That's why they overrepresent American culture abroad as I realized when I lived in Holland.
| quote: | | Anyways. Point is, legit arguments exist about this stuff, and to try to brush someone off as a "conservative" for ONE belief is pretty ludicrous. |
But you are conservative, and I am a liberal. That's beyond the point. Apply the connotation you wish to either term.
/drunk rant over. |

It's what gave America its cultural personality. When the famous Cezch composer Anton Dvorak came to New York in the late 19th century he composed the classic New World Symphony as inspired by African American spirituals.
From Louis Armstrong to Jimmy Hendrix to Juan Atkins, black America deserves recognition for their contribution to American culture. Even Bush or any intelligent neo-con would embrace this right away, while you say that they haven't done anything positive at all. That's a shame.
The existence of electronic dance music is good enough for me, even if it's a very small fraction of the great gifts that they have beared upon us. Is it not for you? |

| i think its a little insulting to say that the English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Chinese, Irish, Scottish, and everyone else didnt have any "soul" or "spirit" until the blacks came to America. |

I'm not saying that they didn't. Of course they all do. I'm saying that the American soul and spirit is inherently related to black America. |

what the are you talking about?
black people walk with a chip on their shoulder? NO LOOK WHAT'S HAPPENED TO THEM FOR THE LAST 400 YEARS...of course they have a chip on their shoulder...what the hell do you know? even today, many minorities including blacks, asians, etc etc STILL DON'T have it equal in society especially in jobs
ignorance is bliss
you're not racist but absolutely ignorant |
If that's the case, then woman should have an even bigger chip on our shoulders for we've been put through hell alot longer then you guys(as in the african people). Dont forget, african people arent the only ones in this world who've been on. Woman were the first to get the blunt end of the stick(no pun intended).. and its still an uphill battle for us too. But we dont get all touchy touchy with every woman-bashin/degrading comment thats made. For us, its called sexism, not racism.. but its the same thing. Jewish people.. again.. same for them too. But which culture seems to whine the most about it?
From the beginning of time, woman were considered the lesser species, made slaves out of.. basically treated just a harshly. Thou instead of bitchin about it, we go about things in a more productive manner. Which is to move on, live in the here and now rather than in the past and miss today.
Sorry to come across alittle harsh here... but its the year 2004, and im sick of the fightin/bickerin between nations/ races/ cultures/ religions/ sexes, it has got to stop. How are we to MOVE ON and LEARN from our history if we're stuck in the past constantly reliving it & repeating its' past mistakes??
The past is history,
Tomorrows a mystery,
todays a gift,
which is why its the present.
So live for today, cuz living is all that we've got to share in this one world we call home.
gee.. k.. now im soundin cheesy :) |
