what college you go to is overrated...i hate people who think you're inferior just because he or she happens to go to a better college education wise...whatever man college is college...some guy from some state college can equally get into as good a graduate school as some dude from Harvard...what it all comes down to is how hard you work |

gotta agree with you to some extent, after all we come from one & spend the rest of our sane lives trying to get back into one. I love the trying part :) but there are just so many headaches that we have to put up with in the process & I'm running out of aspirin :eek: |

tru dat bro, first time i got some i was like where are the fireworks? I thought i was supposed to be transported directly to heaven? Don't get me wrong it sure beats your own hand (no pun intended) but, it gets a little over played and there a lot baggage that goes along with it. I guess I should have read the warning lable 'aspirin not included' :stongue:

I haven't even heard of half of the things people are talking about in this thread. Honestly, I think some of you people watch too much TV, listen to too much radio, and otherwise spend far too much time obsessing over pop culture (either loving it or hating it, either way you're obsessing over it).
The only overrated things I've ever had to deal with are:
- University (yay, I'm getting a degree that isn't worth the paper it's printed on)
- Any kind of sexual act involving the ass (seems to be prominent among people who routinely enter doors specifically marked "exit only")
- Almost every popular TV show in existence other than the Simpsons and Family Guy (including Friends, Sex in the City, Dawson's Creek, Survivor, Temptation Island, and whatever other bull shows have recently emerged that I refuse to watch but am sometimes forced into it by a friend/roommate)
- Clubs (both the top 40 and EDM kinds... honestly, what's the point of being around a "good crowd" when I can't even hear one of them screaming in my ear over the music)
- Vodka (If I puke I want it to be because I'm trashed, not because the drink tasted so foul that my entire body went into overdrive attempting to expel the offending agent as quickly as possible)
- Political correctness (technically this isn't "overrated", just something that too many people try to force on me)
That's it. Everything else that's rated high seems to be rated fairly to me. Beer, sex, porn, money, friends (the real kind), family, weed, sleep, bar fights, slacking off, house music, cars, the beach, yada yada yada... these things are popular because they're good, not everything is popular because it's forced on us. |

do you have to dissect every little detail in what we say to a point where you can come up with something negative...like we're totally delusional and obssessed over popular culture? no you don't know me...and just cuz i started the thread does not mean i am obsessed over pop culture...like YOU said it yourself you're being forced to watch those stupid TV shows...well same with me...and these same stupid TV shows are actually popular...which is why we think they're overrated cuz WE don't understand why they're so popular...besides everything you've listed are BASICALLY in the same ball park as all the other responses...and there were many responses that had NOTHING to do with pop culture but dealt more with everyday life in general...to me all you ever do is act like some mr. know it all guy by claiming everyone is "this or that" etc etc...but whatever |

Chill, man. I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about the people who have page-long lists of everything that's overrated including 10 DJs, 50 cities, 100 food products and god knows what else. Yeah, I'm forced to watch a few crappy TV shows, but some people seem to know what's on every single hour of the day and still bitch about it all being overrated. |

i think black people are overrated.
So what if your ancestors were slaves like 200 years ago. Get over it. The people that live here and now had nothing to do with it. And nobody likes the racist s down south anyway.
I just about flipped on this one black chick that assumed I was American in one of my classes (I have no accent any longer :)) and just flipped out on me talking about "Your ancestors this and that" I was like "bitch my ancestors are all Russians, and so am I, my ancestors probably didn't know black people existed, off"
Anyway get over it and let's all live as one. Ohh and another thing that kind-of bothers me - there's a hispanic channel Telemundo, there's the black channel BET, but one of us try to make an all white channel and it'll be racist. What the - i just wanna show all the wonders of our race - we invented the most it's nice to see our rich heritage and culture, that's not being racist that's being proud - by having an all white channel i'm not saying all other races suck, just like I'm sure Telemundo and BET weren't meant for that. |
