Well, here is how Fido is doing it:
2004-03-30 - Microcell Solutions Inc.
Description: In accordance with the procedures set out at paragraph 295 of Telecom Decision CRTC 97-8, Microcell is hereby informing the Commission of its status in meeting the CLEC obligations in the Ontario exchanges of Ajax Pickering, Burlington, Clarkson, Cooksville, Malton, Port Credit, Richmond Hill, South Pickering, Streetsville and Whitby.
------------
Since Microcell is meeting the CLEC obligations they are able to offer LNP.
If this is popular - expect the other wireless carriers to follow suit. If it isn't popular - expect Microcell to go broke.
------------
BTW - Since none of the other wireless carriers meet CLEC obligations - you will NOT be able to transfer your Rogers Wireless, Bell Mobility or Telus Mobility nubmers to CityFido. (You will only be able to transfer your land-based phone numbers to CityFido).
When these providers meet CLEC status - you will be able to move your number around (CRTC only allows the CLECs to have LNP). |

I'll be signing up in two days for this. I have no problems with Fido, I don't care about coverage, I live in the City. I don't have any lost calls or network busy signals. They have per second billing, way better roaming partners then Rogers, and cheaper roaming at that ($.20/min vs. $.95/min). I don't even consider CDMA an option. |
nice cover kevin ;).
i'm sure your phone service is just fine. hahahahaha.
(ps. let us know if your number changes) |

i dunno if the BIG 3 will ever be considered CLECs then .. rumor has it that Manitoba Telecom may go LNP.. they just acquired Allstream so this should make things interesting..

Probably as much as it costs to learn how to read ;) |
In case you didnt read it all over, there was no where listed in that article a MONTHLY price. It listed monthly fees, initial sign up fee and a fee for 911 but not a MONTHLY price so you can take your and go to hell!!
And have a nice day :) |

Gotcha! Thanks again.... :)
Hmmmm $4 for call display, $4 for voice mail, 0.25c for emergency charges + 15% taxes....all comes out to about $61 - and that doesn't include text messages....hhmmmmmmm I don't know...is it worth it? :) Tough decision... |

Little incorrect, long distance still applies. It works no differently then your home phone, making local calls costs nothing, if it's LD you pay LD. That calling area means you don't get charged for any minutes used, only potential Long Distance if you make a Long Distance call. You can't magically start calling Orillia free of charge now, you still pay LD charges.
ps. CityFido Available today! |

| So its about $61 bucks for a cell and a home phone IN ALL??? sounds pretty good if you ask me considering Im paying about 60 now for just a home phone with all the extras. |

Yep...but it's true if you live on your own and not sharing that number with anyone else (roomates parents relatives and etc)...But if you just want this service for yourself without replacing your house phone then it's $61 + per month - which is what it'll be for me so that's why i'm still debating.
Posters all over the place today wow!:happy2: |

| do you think we will be able to use the same sort of set up for long distance as it is on a land line? I have Primus as my long distance, will I be able to use it still on this? Probably not. |
