| ok, well last i checked healthcare gets loads of discussion, well above just simple talk of fees and two tier systems. And, immigration, well what would do you have to say about immigration, i'm open to what you have to say, and I promise I won't call you a racist. |

People never talk about it on the political level without the left wing breaking out the two tier scare tactics. Youll see a lot of that when they call the election on sunday. Youll see.
As for immigration..
Either we tell all the young doctors, engineers, teachers etc in other lands that they wont be able to nothing more than clean toilets when they arrive in Canada, change the system, or just stop letting them in.
Why does canada keep letting people in demanding such high degrees only to tell them once they arrive that their degree is not valid here? We need to figure out a way to allow them to upgrade or take equivalency tests.
As for multiculturalsm... ive always said this: bring us your culture but dont take ours away. Anbody who says a manger display or a christmas tree in a public school is "offensive" needs to be sent back to where they came.

try addressing what I actually wrote instead of putting words into my mouth. I specifically stated that I'm not defending the liberals...I said that the liberals didn't suddenly become the only party that's not followed through on promises or mislead the public.
Everyone is up in arms about the liberal "lies"...well, what the fuk about the outgoing conservative party's lies that ***DIRECTLY*** contributed to this ty budget we're now going to have in a very significant way? ANSWER THAT! Throw some of that hate the conservative way too...or are you going to honestly deny that they have *any* responsibility here?
Accountibility has to span more than just the current administration...and that in no way let's the liberals off the hook...but it should at the very least cause all the liberal haters a moment's pause.
It's easy to throw stones at whoever's in office...that the conservatives even have the nerve to call the liberals liars makes me laugh out loud. yeah, McGuinty lied. He should be accountable for that...Eves and his predecessors were liars too, let's not forget that as well before anyone suggests they are the answer.
Jayx1, I agree with much of what you say...I think we need some standards put in place to allow skilled workers to more seemlessly integrate into our society. Having people with engineering and graduate degrees working in call centres is beyond ridiculous. I don't support "the Church", for obvious reasons for anyone who knows me, but I do agree that this move towards banning anything remotely symbolic of religion, such as Christmas related events/images, is also ridiculous. Apologies to our native peoples of course (that's another issue), but our country was essentially founded on British, French, and Christian principles and that should mean something.
Jayx1...you're parting comment, however tongue in cheek it might have been, is EXACTLY what scares people away from the Conservative party...rightly or wrongly, that's the intollerant perception many members of the Alliance gave off in their comments on reducing immigration, in anti-gay marriage arguments (which goes deeper than just not wanting gays to marry, let's be honest here), etc. That party just does not fill me with pride or inspriration of any kind. |

People arent shocked that a politcian lied...
what they are shocked about is the amount of lies, the size of the lies and how quickly the promises were broken (Many on the first day of office!!)
Usually when politicians lie they spread out the damage over the whole term and not six months. And its rarely on issues that are this big.. |

lies are lies...it could be argued that the state of the books partially forced McGuinty's hand with this budget. So years of "spread out" conservative lies resulted in him making quick, painful changes to his campaign promises...?
This isn't gospel...and it's not even my personal opinion...but it could be argued to be the case. |

That isn't the Conservative Party...the real Tories didn't join. I could at least vote Tory, but I'll never vote for a western redneck. |

Four years ago, during the last election, Jean Chretien promised a half BILLION for the Toronto waterfront, and 4 years later nothing has been done, and only 10 million has arrived.
Martin is now promising 142 million, a figure that doesn't even touch the bottom of the barrel that a construction project of such magnitude would require.
And for those ppl that have the Island airport bridge as an issue, despite Toronto and Liberal government claims to the contrary, the billions REGCO is suing the city and the feds for breach of contract will ensure it gets built. They are schedule to start the pillar construction in June. |
