Release Date: May 24, 2004
We are pleased to announce that after a long and successful negotiation with RIOCAN, we have secured the Entertainment District’s most sought after location of 261 Richmond Street West in Festival Hall. The venue located next to Paramount Theaters will house a 1500+ capacity nightclub/concert hall, occupying approximately 15,000 square feet and featuring parking directly in the building for over 450 cars. The venue will be divided into three rooms with dedicated sound and lighting systems, allowing for unique styles in each. The larger room will be branded Republik Nightclub and will have a DSR (Designated Smoking Room) to accommodate smoking patrons. The second room is yet to be named and will also have access to the DSR and can provide a second flavour of music and/or live entertainment. The renowned architect Bennett Lo of the Dialogue 38 team has been chosen as the lead designer for Republik. Bennett has brought many innovative designs to bars and restaurants (“Spring Rolls”, “Indochin”) in Toronto and has taken on this project for his debut in the nightclub industry.
The focus of Republik will be to bring an exciting, new and innovative location esthetically as well as to deliver top-notch audio/visual production. We have enlisted Vertex Sound & Lighting (audio supplied to venues such as Viva, Venus, Air Canada Centre and artists such as Barenaked Ladies, Sarah McLachlan etc… www.vertexsound.com ) and PDI (lighting designers and suppliers to clubs globally and live acts such as Rush, Bon Jovi, 50 Cent and Britney Spears to name a few www.pdifx.com ). These two organizations will be responsible for designing and installing a true state of the art sound and lighting system that will set a new standard for North America. We are currently reviewing multiple high-end audio systems at venues globally in an effort to select the best possible rig for this location. To accompany the audio we will install unique visual systems utilizing multiple full color lasers, moving head intelligent lighting fixtures and the Catalyst imaging system to name a few.
At the core of the show lies the music, which ultimately is the foundation of this venue's purpose. In having multiple rooms we will be able to cater to many different styles and tastes. Our format will be committed to the club community with world-class resident DJs, providing a seamless flow to late night sounds focused on the “best of the best” of international performers and DJs. Our intention is to support music and performance in all its forms from cutting edge electronic dance music to live production.
Please accept this as an advanced invitation to our opening for the Fall/Winter of 2004.
Website to be launched for June 2004.

| Ive seen the design plans for Republik. It looks like its going to be a great club. Their philosophy is in the right frame of mind as well. ENTERTAINMENT (as in quality DJs and live acts), light and sound are the focus of the club. Many clubs (glorified lounges more like) these days forget that its the entertainment and show quality that brings people and gets your place well known. If you were to turn the place into a poser bar with radio music you would peak and fail rather quickly. |
