Hats off to Armin for putting together a decent show - considering he'd been up for more than 24 hours (he hadn't slept since his Vegas gig) and he had to spend 8 hours in the Vegas airport (ugh! - i've spent quality time in airports too due to business travel and it is NOT fun). Spundae scrambled the entire day trying to find a flight for him and also had to try and find a back-up dj (a back-up for Armin?) in case he wasn't going to make the gig. Poor Armin had to fly Southwest and his plane landed at 12:05 and he was on the decks by 1:30 (after a short detour to a fast food restaurant and a shower) - pretty impressive.
The highlight of the night for me had to be Communication and Punk'd (gawd - I love that track and it sounded soooooooo good at the club). His set was harder than I've ever heard him - and for some reason I got bored at the end - I dunno. I think I danced more at the afters than at the club. I think my house/tech house friends are having too much of an influence on me.
Also - Armin only spun for 2+ hours - so I think he owes the Chicago TA's a true EXTENDED set (as advertised on the flyers) the next time he's in town. :D
Nice to meet some new peeps and seeing all the regulars. I wonder how that group photo turned out?! |
Ahhh that is what was going on......the thunderstorms really musta ed up the network yesterday...didn't even think anything about it.
Everything makes more sense now.....too Bad Ipo did not play longer upstairs, I prefer his style over Mazi's.
It still will probably be my last time going to Vision for a long time. I just did not have a great time with the security bull around going to the bathroom and having to pay 4.50 for a bottle of water.
Oh well....
Time to go sleep for another 10 hours in a row I think....

| Yeah, what the F#$k is up with bottled water for $4.50? I seem to remember Vision giving water in glasses for free. And, $10.00 for a Red Bull & Vodka...five months ago they were only $7.00. What was wrong with security? |

that's the C02 system, not a fog machine. had a good time, always fun to meet up with the TA's. Armin played some pounding tunes, although for some reason I do think his 8/30 show was quite a bit better. Great hearing the new updated version of Communication.
Look forward to Tiesto in June. |

To correct everyone who calls it a CO2 system...It is not CO2. It is what is called an LN2 system. Uses Liquid Nitrogen.
You would suffocate everyone on the dancefloor if you pumped that much CO2 down on them.
Also, if you noticed, they had the Laser say "Nitro is Cool" when they were doing the blasts last night.
It is in fact a "fog machine" it just uses a supercooled blast of gas to create a cloud out of the moisture already in the air instead of using a liquid that is heated up then blasted out to create a fog.
Just a little thing that has slightly annoyed me seeing it posted about on here, and since I am pretty grumpy today, I figured I would put my proverbial 2 cents in.
I don't mean to be an ass, but your comments were just as false as the person whom you were trying to correct.

wouldn't it get super hot if it was CO2 as well? those blasts of liquid n definately helped keep the dancefloor cool. |

Nope...CO2 would also have a cooling effect...
They actually use CO2 "chillers" in some applications to cool the conventional fluid based fog so that is hugs the floor and does not dissipate so rapidly into haze.

hell yeah. i couldn't remember the name of the song when i heard it, but i kept saying that it was in a Sasha set. that was another highlight for me... i love that song.
Mazi's set was pretty good, except for a few mushy mixes here and there... i was diggin the tunes.
i don't remember hearing White Room. wtf? :( which is weird because that was one of the few songs i was really dying to hear. i wasn't even messed up. damnit. |

The nitro system in clubs is known as "Kryo" -- only one company (or dude, should I say) makes the systems as far as I know...and how it's made to work the way it does for clubs is like top secret....of course, this was as of a couple years ago, so things could have changed by now.
Glad to see Chicago getting hooked up with it :p
