Congrats on the Bucs 2004 season! Oh, wait...

Anyway, as a friend of mine said, "It should at least snow once a while in a city that has an NHL team, especially the team that wins the Stanley Cup."

You don't need to explain yourself. You are one of the few that didn't come on here hating. I am 100% fine with someone else's team winning next year.

People just have no idea how incredibly nice it is to have had the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win the Super Bowl in 2003 and then the Tampa Bay Lightning win the Stanley Cup in 2004. These are back to back wins for teams that were on the bottom of the totem pole...two teams never expected to win. It has just been an awesome ride. People that don't live in Tampa have no idea what it has been like. You guys rant on and on about how we are not fans like you. Try to imagine living in a town that the teams don't ever win anything. Now try to imagine your town winning their first Super Bowl and then one year later winning their first Stanley Cup. There will never be another first. There will never be another moment where we won first times like this back to back. You guys have no clue what it feels like. A win is a win...but the first time is always something special. You think it isn't a big deal to us? You don't live here...how could you possibly know? If it took winning to turn people onto hockey (bandwagon fans)...so what? I was a hockey fan long before Tampa ever had a team. I never had the pleasure of having a home team to cheer for. To hell with anyone that thinks that I am not entitled to what you are.

Much love to the Lightning for their win. Nothing but love for all of the players on the Lightning (regardless of the country that they come from) that helped bring us that win. If it took coming to Tampa for a Canadian to be able to say he was part of winning the Stanley Cup for once in his career why don't you try being happy for him instead of hating the town that he played for?

it is devastating like losing your family. Thats how much Calgary related to this team. They are everything that we as calgarians and canadians stand for.

Try actually losing someone. Please don't compare.

i love hockey games and i was at about 80% of the Panthers games this year:) i know they aren't the best team (but we do have luongo) :) next time around we want to get season tickets. i was never a big sports fan at all, but my bf got me into it. hockey is my absolute favorite sporting event to go to...and to watch.

No disrespect to the Lightning, but if there are $8 tickets left for STANLEY CUP GAME 7 then there is something not right. The NHL is getting ridiculous, Bettman has to go. This is what happens when you expand to markets where hockey isn't popular. The game is losing money and ratings, and the upcoming player strike is only going to hurt it too. This makes me long for the days of the Quebec Nordiques, Winnipeg Jets, Minnesota (not Dallas) North Stars, Hartford Whalers (the Whale), and when the Penguins used to be good. It's all about money nowadays in the NHL, and the game is in a state of emergency.

i have never seen so much whining and crying and bad sportsman ship as this...i mean tampa put up a strong fight and won..they came up from 3-2 down to win...the flames got confident...a team doesnt get the cup just cause they have die hard fan..it not fans against fans..tampa played hard put up a fight n won the cup..r they suppose to give the cup to calgary cause thier fans r cry babies...nope...bottom line is..tampa won 4 gams they got the cup start cryin...u wanna win play harder and dont get cocky as the flames were..
Slylee
well no disrespect to all the northerners, but the reason why most of those teams have such diehard fans is because of the fact that there is practically nothing to do in those areas throughout the year (probably due to the weather and other factors). my boyfriend is from Minnesota and all his friends are too (a few from Calgary as well) and they even agree that ppl up north look forward to hockey games and other sporting events all year round because that’s all there is to do! it’s a little different in florida.
