Wholey that was wicked...i just got home right now...the new docks looks SOOOO amazing, it looks even better then guvernment. and i love that huge patio. It just needs to pick up in ppl now. Wasn't a bad turn out since the club nite is still fairly new. the main room was soo dead and i was getting worried that there would be no audience for johan, and was like wtf is going on. but by the time he hit a stage he got a crowd and i think it was made up of mostly TA's.(still pretty empty in guvernment terms, but the crowd was so into it, so it made the event a lot of fun.) johan was so into to which was great!!! highlights of the night were:
blank and jones - waiting for the light (kyau vs albert remix) love that song!!!
energy 52 - cafe del mar (can't believe he played that)
airscape - sosei (johan gielen mix) i wish he played the original though
nickelson - yin (solid globe remix)
nalin and kane - beachball
anyways, must get sleep now...thank you very much justin for the guestlist hook ups...what a great night, and i hope the docks takes off as a good club now, cause it looks amazing!!! |

Johan OWNED the docks!!! if that mixer is still usable i'll be surprised!
The place was fairly empty BUT the people that were there were SO into it they made the night so amazing:eek:
None of that drugged out asian crowd as in Viva.
Met so many TA's...dead now but will post a proper review later

woooooooooooooooooooow Mr.Gielen killed me tonite,the night was PERFECT,sooooooooooooooooooooooo much room to dance,AMAZING SOUND SYSTEN:eyes: :eyespop: .The best part of the night was when I met Gielen at the begining of the night before his set at the patio,he was walking to go to the booth and I just went up to him and talked to him for abit and told him Toronto loves him,and that he should come here more.:D
Best part of the night for me was when he dropped Ferry Corsten - Sweet sorrow (remix?).
I hope they bring more Dj's to the Docks soon,since not alot people know about Fridays it is a perfect venue I think.
Once again thanks to the Few TA's that were there tonite and Mr.Gielen for his great spirit and a wicked set:) |

| What an awesome ing night! Gielen was incredible, just like i expected him to be! The Docks is a great club and i can see it getting a lot more crowded soon. Definitely going back there next time they've got a good DJ spinning. Only complaint is that they don't have any elevated dancing platforms in the main room. Justin, tell management! |

Alright proper review since the last one I did from my pocket pc and I was too damn tired :p
My buddy and I came to the club at around 10:50, no lineup no nothing but the parking lot seemed to be getting full. Walked up to the entrance asked a few people for the right bouncer and got inside in about 2 seconds THANK YOU JUSTINSTYLES!!! Walked up to the bar, got a drink (Much cheaper than expected by the way) and just headed out to the patio and chilled for a bit. Aparently the main room is closed till 11 or so but we still managed to sneak a look through the glass :eyespop: :eyes: It looked SICK! As usual the hip-hop room is pretty busy but so far not too much interest in the main room. Pretty nice girls around though I have to admit but everyone seemed to be much younger than usual crowd you see at say...The Guvernment.
Around 11 the doors to the main room opened and my friend and I went straight in. We were really impressed and quite amazed by the new "layout" and the new design! There was still nobody there and the room was dead -- maybe 20 people tops. Like bruuen said I was getting worried too...no audience and crowd would suck -- started getting the memories of Cor Fijneman a lil bit from Viva. So we're dancing around, people slowly comming in - some to just check out the room and some cause they actually are interested. After some time I was 2 guys with DJ bags walk through to the DJ booth and I was like "...HE'S COMMING!..." And about 5 minutes later Johan walks in...unfortunately to a fairly dead club :p. In any case we went and said hi shook hands and he was as usual his happy self :D:D. What I didn't get though is how did EVERYONE have cameras and JustinStyles told us ABSOLUTELY NO CAMERAS allowed :mad: Therefore sorry guys but no pictures! :(
Anyways the DJ before played some progressive and it was really really  I personally think many people just left the main room cause it was just so blah...no rythm, no flow, no nothing just randomly mixing really boring prog records. Then came another guy and he played MUCH better stuff but again no flow to his set whatsoever...he started average, then all of the sudden I hear: "You bring light through, you bring light through, you bring light through...":eyespop: I thought I was gonna die...UNDERWORLD!!! So everyone got so hyped up and excited and then he just killed everything by going back to boring prog.
Johan got on the decks at about 12:30 and the main room was getting finally filled up. I'd say that it was at most 2/3 full but it was full of the RIGHT people which what really mattered. He opened with the CD version of Tiesto - Forever today :eyespop:. Then he went on to play a few trakcs I didn't know and then started landing bombs. Then once again he went into some things I've never heard and then for about 2.5 hours was just dropping hit after hit after hit.

Met a lot of you guys there and that as usual was excellent! Finally met speedy 2K and with the light that fell on him at first he looked like Tiesto :crazy: :haha: :haha: But yeah AWESOME guy it was a pleasure meeting ALL of you -- honestly I'm terrible with names so I forgot like half the names but the faces I remember no worries!!! I was the guy with the FCUK ENGLAND shirt :p
Funny moment of the night - Saw Daniele and we smiled at each other but I couldn't figure out where I know her from untill it finally hit me that she was TA :stongue: SORRY!!! But we definitely made up for that later and it was great meeting your bf and parying it up with you!!! :D:D That song you asked me about is Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (one of the new 2004 remixes)
At some point Johan climbed out of the DJ booth and got on it about 3-4 metres in the air and was standing there and partying and dancing with us. The guys energy was AMAZING he definitely knows how to workd the crowd - smiling, dancing, communicating, singing - screw boring prog DJs *zzzzZZZZzzzzzzz* sleepy time. :p At the end he said something like "Toronto, I haven't been here in about 10 months but you guys are great..." or something...
Drinks like I said were really cheap but I payed maybe for only one out of my pocket cause we kept getting free samples, and free cupons and etc...
Oh yeah and just before I wrap up - the sound system didn't impress me that much. Not that it was bad, it is a big improvement of what used to be there before, but I can't say that it's better than the Guvernment's or Viva's - and haven't heard Boa's yet so I'm assiming it's not as good.
Bad ass bitches (the dancers) were kinda cool too:stongue:
Overall an AMAZING night and for all who didn't go you guys really missed out. RJ where the hell were you??!?!?!? :conf: |

i definately liked the look there with the projectors and the dancers added some effect which was nice too...(i can't believe they had porn on the projectors at first lol) I couldn't believe that i got into johan for free, and got a free drink stub lol...johan and a beer for free!!! does it get any better?
what time did johan stay on til btw? i had to leave at 315! i left on the song after nickelson - yin. BUt the crowd was so amazing, because it didn't have the vibe of your normal club, it felt like it was a big house party with all the ppl that are nuts about seeing geilen. cause everyone was so into it, and wasn't full of the drug crazed crowd at other clubs. so who cares that it wasn't 100% full, it was so amazing with the capacity it did have! i wish i could go back in time and do last nite all over again lol...that was the best time i've had since seeing scott bond! |

I wasn't 100% sure about going to WEMF even with Johan Gielen as a headliner but after last night... I am goin to WEMF to get more of Johan FAH SHORE:tongue3 ...Its been SOO long since I've seen this guy live and he is THE best...He was so awesome last nite and it was too bad that he couldn't go a wee bit longer...I loved some of the old school remized tracks he put down like Cafe Del Mar.
Anyway its years since I've been to the Docks and it is alot better then when I went way back when...I still can't believe that RIchard (black guy in white outfit) is STILL a bartender there...Thanx for the VIP pass dude...I was also worried at the small crowd but THAT'S what I like so that I can move around & dance...
Shoutouts to John,Ash,Lloyd,Gen & Andrew,Ben,both Chris',Anthony & Elio,Tom & my liquid crew Randy & Peter...It was great seeing ALL of you :D

It DEFINITLY felt like a private house party with all of your friends have a great time:tongue2 ...I kinda hope that Johan NEVER spins in the Guv and remains somewhat unknown to the "geno" crowd... |

But wait, he played Born Slippy? I musta been in the washroom at the time. Ahh too bad! And yeah, the dancers were hot. Me and the asian one in those tiny white shorts kept checking eachother out and i was waiting for her her to finish up her act so that we could dance. But then i went to check out the R&B room and all of em disappeared! My sex life got owned by hiphop :haha: |

Dang, I missed a lot of good tunes. A friend of mine wanted to leave early cuzz she had work.
Loved the whole experience though. The lights, the sound, the wicked kick ass tunes and especially the enthusiastic crowd! And Johan knows how to move the crowd. Even my friends, who don't listen to trance, were highly impressed. They thought we were going clubbing but it was more like a concert haha.
PS. I could be wrong but was that Dutch Force - Deadline after Sosei? |
