This letter was submitted to a local paper(kinda pisses me off too)
You Don’t Make Me Feel Like Dancing
Open Letter To All Techno Music Playing Omaha DJs:
Lay off the E and stop trying to force techno music down the throat of every club patron where you are spinning tunes. Not everyone in the club has pupils the size of dimes and is on a 4-hour touchy-feely roller coaster ride. It may be news to you, but most people do not like techno music. Recently I have been to LA, LV, and NYC and I have seen this dislike for techno. A few months ago, I was at Club Seven in Vegas and had to suffer through 30 minutes of techno music as soon as I got to the club. The extremely large dance floor had two people dancing during this time. Then the DJ played some JA Rule and faster than you can say "Techno music sucks," the dance floor filled up with nearly 100 people. I have seen countless nearly empty dance floors in Omaha while techno music is being played by some DJ who is trying to impress his buddies or clueless boss/club owner. Instead of playing techno, stick with songs on the play list of "The Channel" and mix in some old school along with some favorites from the 70s and 80s.

P.S. Quit playing the new rock music, too. Although there is a lot of very good new rock music out today, you can count on one hand the number of new rock songs you can actually dance to.
This guy is lame and why America sucks when it comes to edm. grrrrr....
p.s. In case you're wondering, I live in Omaha. IT SUCKS! |

That's because that -kicking, wife beater wearing, redneck hick lives in Omaha. I'm guessing the majority of people from "The Heartland" would feel exactly like that.
His loss. I love my trance! |

I thought this was a joke at first, something akin to a technofied version of The Onion. Alas, it is not to be. But I have come across similar letters many times in my journey -- such prejudiced ignorance quickly leads to a sort of odd, awkward musical implosion within the narrowminded aural soul of one's self. Interesting to note how electronic the present state of hip-hop music is too.
Something tells me this chap is not a Radiohead, or Linkin Park fan . . . ;) |

Eh, you people are no better than him. It's just that most of you are prejudiced against anything that's not trance.
You sit here judging everything you do not like, bashing every genre (heaven forbid if it's mainstream! It must be destroyed!) and when someone does the same about your precious music you get mad like it were blasphemy.
Besides, what does it matter anyway? It's just one guys opinion... |

| I wonder if he's heard the word "trance" before used in a musical context. That is all I have to say. |

| My question is, what does he mean by techno, I mean in the states, techno to a bunch of people is cheesy eurodance. Nik is right as well |
