Eh, you people are no better than him. It's just that most of you are prejudiced against anything that's not trance.
You sit here judging everything you do not like, bashing every genre (heaven forbid if it's mainstream! It must be destroyed!) and when someone does the same about your precious music you get mad like it were blasphemy.
Besides, what does it matter anyway? It's just one guys opinion... |

While this is just one guy's opinion, it should be noted that a vast majority of America thinks like this right now. They've been brainwashed by Clear Channel and MTV and don't know anything else right now, so of course hip-hop is the big thing in most clubs.
The situation isn't too different than around 1993 when (pop-oriented) dance was dying out and hip-hop was riding a wave of popularity (moreso on MTV than radio). What happened? within like 3 or 4 years the gangsta angle had played itself out and dance was happeneing again for a while (ok, a LONG while).
Bottom line: everything is cyclical, and we're on the downside right now. Ride it out and we'll be on top again in a couple years when someone produces a big pop dance hit that triggers a ton of copycats. That'll be the spark that gets the mainstream to accept what we're going in the underground dance scene again. |

he just wants to grind with and grope girls all night long.. our "techno" music is too fast for him...
I like how he talks about anti-"techno" sentiment in NY. I'd say people are enjoying electronic music here more than ever... |

I wonder if he really means techno, or, as one of the unwashed masses, he simply means all electro/tech/trance etc.
Techno is outdated, and usually refers to songs grouped in with Buttered popcorn. Go onto a filesharing network and primarily what you find when you look up techno is stuff like the 'Braveheart (Moby mix),' or 'Tetris Techno'. If DJ's in his area play that, then I do feel sorry for him. But I feel it's far more likely that he's the latter, in which case he's just pushing his opinion on everyone else, just as he condemns the DJ's he writes about. |

yes that's true, but it's sad as well and even frustrating to see how some people on the other side are also close-minded. not that they're supposed to be forced to like what we like, but they aren't supposed to be making moronic comments about it neither |

| To be brutally honest, this guy obviously has a point. He's seen the crowd react better to another style of music, and is fed up of seeing people not dancing to "techno". Okay, he may be a hillbilly and not have any musical taste blah blah blah... but where he lives, he's obviously not alone. Why should DJs play stuff the floor doesn't want to hear? |

this guy is probably pretty old. he wants them to play disco and eighties music. so what do we care if he doesn't like "techno" |
just sounds to me like this kid wants to relive his high school dances or something. there is so much music out there, no matter what direction you go towards... why does he choose to go to these clubs if hates this style so much? |
