Hah I had 1 tooth taken out on the top left, it was soo quick. The most painful part was when they were injecting the freezing needles into my gums/mouth. Doctor took out the tooth in less then 2 seconds, I didnt feel ! And I went to work 3 hours later. Doctor said not to smoke or drink from a straw cuz it creates a vacuum and rips teh healed tissues. I forgot about the straw and bled for a bit, but luckly didnt get infected. Then the next day I went to see PVD @ guv lol and the tooth was completely forgotten.
Also got a note from the Doc to skip a test, w00t!

I herd taking out 4 is more complex, they r gone give u laughing gas, then some needles so u can pass out into dream world.

AHHHHHHHHH, I have to go for a consulatation for my wisdom teeth tomorrow, after reading this thread, I wanna cancel my appointment now!! Even the "good stories" sound bad. Oh God, I'm so scared to go to my appointment, hopefully the dentist looks at my wisodom teeth and says "oh your teeth look wonderful Ashley, you'll never have to get them pulled out" hence the fact that my whole mouth has been sore for the last week, *sigh....

For me, it wasnt a problem, granted I got them taken out nice and early before they became a real problem. The procedure was fine, I felt fine after 10 minutes, heck I could've driven home. I fell sleep after I got home, and after that, I dealt with some soup, and I was out that night with my buddies sucking back the Tylenol 3's :)

There was some bleeding once in awhile, but a bit og gauze took care of that. I guess I got lucky.

Poor blokes.. Codeine isn't much fun at all.. It does a great job of pluggin' you up for weeks - but doesn't do much more.

When do your wisdom teeth typically grow in?

Do you get "12 year molars"?

I am unsure if I even have my wisdom teeth; methinks negative.

I recall when I was 10-11 I grew some molars and my dentist said they were "12 year molars". Perhaps they were my wisdom teeth? But I don't think they are. I have enough room for 2 on both top and bottom of my mouth.

Hmmmmmmmmm....

Never mind. I did a google search, and I don't have my wisdom teeth yet. You should have a total of 32 teeth, and I counted... 28! So, I suppose I am due for them to grow in sometime. Hmmm, a little late aren't they?

Age at Eruption:
4 First Molars 5.5 to 6 years
4 Central Incisors 6 to 7 years
4 Lateral Incisors 7 to 8 years
4 First Premolars 10 to 11 years
4 Second Premolars 11 to 12 years
4 Canines 10 to 12 years
4 Second Molars 12 to 13 years
4 Third Molars (wisdom teeth) 16 to 21 years

According to this, I have a few years. After hearing your horror stories, I hope they forget to grow in.... :nervous:

when people had their teeth pulled, were they fully grown/sticking out of ur gums? or were they INSIDE stuck on something/had to be cut out, drilled and taken out?

i had the latter
High on PSI
i had all 4 taken out the sumemr after gr12, which was about 5 years ago.

I'll say this... The anesthetic we're the sweetest drugs ive ever done in my life =).

It took well over an hour for them to do the surgery, but it felt like a minute. Afterwards,i needed a li help goin to the car, as i was still high LOL... lots of bleeding for a few hours.

Then the food... lots of apple sauce, ice cream, soup, mashed potatos, etc, etc.. anything soft...

You gotta keep teh area clean tho, dont let food or anything else get stuck in there. If it gets infected during the healing process, its a bitch to fix.

they wanted to pull mine, but i wouldn't let them.
i think they wanted to pull them for the hell of it, couldn't give me a good reason. i don't like doctors, dentists, hospitals, never had any kind of surgery, and avoid it all costs.

i have all 4 wisdom teeth(sort of).

the top two are all the way in. one is 1/2 way in on the bottom, and the other bottom one is considering breaking through.

kind of a pain when they come in, i understand why babies cry so much when they're teething! but no problems afterwards.

unless your wisdom teeth pose a potential problem, say no to surgery!
;)
