I'm about to get my 4 wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow. I'm not scared or nervous, I just hate having to be out of commission for 4 days straight.

SO lets share what any1 else has experienced in the same situation?!!!

Stock up on pudding and applesauce. I couldn't eat real food for a while, like for about 2 and a half days. My surgery wasn't that bad though because my wisdom teeth were grown in like normal teeth. The worst part about it was the gauze afterwards. EWWW I hate gauze, yuck I hate the feeling of it in my mouth. I am getting shivers from it right now. YUck.

Good luck !

got 4 teeth taken out...hurt like hell that night...healing slowly for a week, gets infected end of week, go on antibiotics and more pain, week after gets infected again, more antibiotics/pain...so overall it was fun :P

Personally a real BAD experience... I got an infection in my jaw from the teeth pushing through.. Needless to say I wasn't moving around too fast for a bout 2 weeks.. When the inital infection cleared up I was able to have all 4 wisdom teeth removed, all of which were impacted. After the surgery I felt like a million bucks or wait maybe that was the drugs :haha: I had it fairly rough complete lock jaw, bruising and swelling and infection for up to a month after...

right after my teeth were out, apparently i went into shock.. was freezing cold, tired, and i got a rash all over my body.. really freaked out the dental assistants, cuz they've never seen that before :toothless

so they gave me a shot of something in the ass, gave me a tylenol 3, and wheeled me out to the car in a wheelchair. i tried to jump out of the wheelchair a couple times, but my limbs felt like jello.

not a lot of pain tho, actually. as Linzee said, the gauze sucks.. pull it out, and it's all bloody and soppy.. yeck.

but tylenol 3s will be your friend (at least they were mine. love those things. :D )

I had all 4 pulled a few years back. I had them pulled on a Friday and was back to work on the Monday. I could have worked the very next day as I had no swelling or bruising and one of them was impacted really bad. Make sure you ask for Percaset for the pain as they will write you a perscription....and if you don't end up using it I am sure you will have friends who might want too. just kidding. or am I? ;)

The worst part of the whole experience for me was that you are left with stinky gum holes after the fact. The caves, where teeth once sat, now make brushing your teeth very difficult and hence the stinky breath. (make sure you get the water syringe to help you clean the holes from the surgeon...that will help) Just be sure not to plan any first dates within the first few weeks of getting them pulled.

All in all not a really bad experience. Much better than walking around with the headaches I had from the teeth.

Good luck.

I got all four pulled at once. Apparently i have deep in roots so one of the teeth actually snapped while they were trying to pry it out. They then proceed to drill out the rest of the tooth (since there was nothing left to grab), into little bits until it was all out. The left side of my face swelled up so bad it effected my eye sight, and i was out of commission for nearly two weeks. Lots of ice cream, and soup. Good thing it was in March, i got to see most of the Final Four tournament!!

^^ Where do you work? the best way is to get a job that has dental benefits. the Operation is around the $1000 to $3000 range. All I can tell you is to save up now and do it asap.
