the solution lies in that we were all created by and with the same hand, and if we live a good and just life, to the same hand we will one day return.

One final comment:

The importance is in the concept - not in these things we call "words" to describe it.

I must say that doesn't sound like a very Christian attitude to me.

Actually no, if you read every single passage of the Bible, yes, it does focus in loving everybody as equal, no matter what. But it specially focus in God above ALL (i.e Gandhi and other religions). ;)

If you look at the bible metaphorically, and you say god = good, then can you say that loving all things good is the same as loving god?

Yes, no doubt about it, Most people take the Bible as they read it, but they don't realize that the Bible is the greatest metaphor ever written. God says that there are many ways of reaching Paradise, not only one. I mean, it's really obvious that if a killer/robber/rapist/kidnapper/liar/etc. is whole-heartedly religious and a person who don't confess/go to church/pray/etc. but is the most decent, hard-working, responsible, loving, humble person in the world, well, you can imagine who will have a better time after his death.

NOTE: this doesn't apply to people who diss God, and laugh about him, etc.

What if you later become repentent and ask god for forgiveness?

Ohhh, that is the GREATEST thing God appreciates, for he is a God of forgiveness, no matter what you have done in the past, God will forgive you. Catholic means Universal, so ANYONE can turn to God, anytime, no matter what. ;)

As a catholic school graduate, I must say I know several of my teachers who would love to have you around
