Precisely. So how do we decide which one to follow? Personally I'm going with neither, but I just wanted to point out the a lot of religions incorporate doctrines that all non-believers are damned to hell. It isn't confined to Christianity. |

| Gandhi might be in hell because if we had got independence in 1997 instead of 1947,India might have been as developed as Hongkong by now ! :stongue: |

With christianity isnt one judged at the pearly gates?
So if all you have to do is accept God and what not before you are judged just accept before you hit the gates.... Like really if you find yourself outside these huge crazy gates feeling all dandy and and there is some God chick (had to throw that one in) and you still don`t accept the kunt your a bit of a dick aye, I`d send ya to hell to contemplate your dumbness as well! |

not exactly.
The Dead Are Judged
11Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
all will be judged according to what they had done in their life. had they lived in sin, unrepentant, cursing god, not even believing in jesus? or had they realized what their sin was leading to, which is only death, and accepted jesus's offer of salvation, and turned away from their sin. the bible says "the wages of sin is death". the holy spirit makes the unrighteous righteous.
many people say, how can u just throw away your former lifestyle, and not have sex anymore, not lust anymore, not cheat, not lie, or do whatever u habitually do and know its a sin. the holy spirit changes people, and though one may lie or sin again as we all do, repenting means asking for ones forgiveness, confessing the sin, and repenting, meaning, u dont do it again.
Matthew 24:30
"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.
the nations will mourn because like most of you, u dont even believe there is a god, but on this day u will see it before your eyes, if u are alive to see this day.. |

Wow, I just realized how irritated I get when I see people dissing off Chistianism, IMO, yep, everybody knows what or whom to believe in. And most people just don't understand the meaning of religious dogmas. Anyway, to each his own. Nobody can really tell what happens when you die, that's where each person's faith comes in... ;) |
Chistianism ? |

the bible is just a written document of how a couple people interpretted their religious experiences. millions of people have had different experiences throughout history.
search for your own or shut the up |

See I've been in too many arguments with Christians so I can tell you right now that that doesn't work. They say that most of the provisions in the old testament become null and void once Jesus came because he died on the cross for all of those sins or whatever so we didn't have to ... So essentially all the crap from the old testament that is morally unjust in present terms (taking slaves and putting homosexuals to death) no longer applies now. Of course it doesn't explicitly state such a thing in the new testament except in vague statements that christians can use to pick and choose what they want to keep from the old testament.
Of course they never have an explanation for WHY God would invoke such silly and cruel laws to begin with, but who are we to possibly understand the infinite knowledge God utilizes to make his decisions right? |

yes, thats the problem when you try to make inexpressible astral trips and thousand year-old philosophies into a modern day social dogma. |

Well i'm happy this thread started some interesting religous discussion :)
I guess as a man trapped between faiths I often get confused. Ultimately I do believe in a "higher power" or a "divine order of things"...I am just uncertain as to what it/he/she is... |

once again, vague yet comfortable assumptions reign supreme. |
