Everything, he's always getting injured.
He tore his thigh muscle 4 months ago, it should have healed by now but it hasn't and the club are concerned about it. He has been at Newcastle for 18 months and has only played 28 games. He was injured when we bought him, but it was the last day of the January transfer window so we rushed him through a medical.
He is an amazing defender, potentially one of the best in the world IMO, IF he can get over his injuries. But at the moment that's looking like a big IF. |
That reminds my of Prosinecki...
But Real Madrid always does strong medical test to every player they want to buy, so I think they already know that and thinks that he is OK to play football. If he isn't we were hearing the next name in the list :) |

It is just our luck that he will go to Madrid and never get injured again, and become one of the best centre-backs in the world, and we get only 10M pounds.
Some fans are blaming his injuries on his lifestyle, he was photographed carrying his girlfriend along a beach in Dubai when he was supposed to have a bad leg injury, a few weeks ago he had to be treated after smashing a bottle over his own head. And people have seen him in nightclubs when he's supposed to be recovering.
Basically 15M euros would be a gamble from Real Madrid's point of view, but a gamble worth taking, and I'd be gutted to see him leave for that price. If he only plays 20 games a season then you've more or less got what you paid for, if he plays a full season you have got an absolute bargain at that price.
But nobody is sure of anything yet, whether it will happen or what price it will be, or whether any players will be offered like the Michael Owen deal. |

| I hope it happens, because Real really needs good defenders. |

From Sky Sports a few minutes ago.
| quote: | Sir Bobby Robson has confirmed to Sky Sports News that Newcastle have agreed a £15 million deal to sell Jonathan Woodgate to Real Madrid.
Robson insisted he did not want to sell the England international, but confirmed the defender would be travelling to Madrid for a medical.
The former England boss claimed Real's offer was too good for Newcastle to turn down - it represents a £6 million profit on a player they signed from Leeds in January 2003.
Woodgate's time on Tyneside has been plagued by injuries and Robson admitted there was still a chance the centre back could fail his medical in Spain.
"We are going to make a handsome profit on him, but we are not interested in the profit we are just interested in the player, but it's a huge offer and the club had to consider it," Robson told Sky Sports News. "I understand that but I don't want to lose Jonathan Woodgate.
"It's a huge sum of money, but it's a huge opportunity for him, do we deny him that opportunity? There is a moral issue here.
"He has a medical to pass, I think that is first and foremost.
"If he goes there isn't one person in this building from the chairman down to the youngest fan who won't be sorry to see him go.
"But he may not go. He may not want to. He may fail his medical, I don't know.
"Players do fail medicals, there isn't any reason why he should because the injury he sustained was almost four and a half months ago and he is almost through that, he's almost ready to play.
"That would be the only element that would affect his medical test because he has no other flaws in his make-up or character or body.
"So there's a good chance, more than a good chance he will pass his medical." |

How many more hours until the Toon Army revolts against the board? Or has it already begun in Newcastle. |

Most people are pretty gutted, but we have 10 days to find a replacement. If we can get a good, proven defender in it'll take some of the pressure off. We need to bring in another top class defender and we have the money to do so, but are there any top class defenders available in Europe at the moment? And will they come to Newcastle?
If we don't get someone quality in the next 10 days then this has to be seen as a bad piece of business because I don't think we can last until January with the very average defence we have. |

Ok just dont go after Fabio Cannavaro, maybe getting a player like Murat Yakin from Basle. Proven centreback with good international experience. Will be cheap and could have enough money to bring in someone else. Who do you want to get? |

I'd be happy if we got any good centre back as 10 days is not very long and money obviously isn't an issue now that Real Madrid have agreed to put £15M our way.
The problem is every club in Europe will know we have all that to spend and they will know we are desperate for a centre back with no time left. So any club we approach will double their asking price! |

| It seems that this year Real Madrid is going to have a good defense. I hope this means no more Raul Bravo :D |

| Still missing a good defensive mid-fielder. Viera would have been a better buy that Owen or Woodgate. |
