But thats probably only due to when he competed. Phelps may be able to beat each one of those world records. I dont know that for a fact but its possible. Huge improvements have been made in sports science since `72. |

| I'm just a casual olympic viewer but, I find it strange that so many records are broken, so much so that the anouncers don't make a big deal of it. This is especially true for swiming. It would seem to be that drugs could be the major reason. Look you could say in the 70s they didn't have the correct training program, but what about the 80s and 90s? |

i definitely agree that there are way too many events...and swimming is about exciting to watch as golf.
as far as phelps though...good on him for being gifted...however, the sudden explosion of commercials and ads with him in it is annoying.
also, he needs to pull up his pants. you can almost see his pubes shooting out of the top of his waistband and you can definitely see the top of his crack when he turns around. pretty hot guy though (from the neck down).:eyespop:

If there were an event that ecompassed the all American style of thinking you are better than the world whilst being cocky, arrogant and annoying then I'm sure Phelps would have broken all the world records. |

what do you want, you want to hear him say
"ima try, but theyre really good athletes, theyre sooo good i dunno, i really dunno"
THAT this is the olympics, youre competing with the best athletes in the world, its no place to be a softy, you go in there and fight for what youve been working your ass off for half your life.
theres a difference between confidence and arrogance. The guy has every single right to be confident, even arrogant, though I havent seen ANY arrogance from him. When you're good, you're good, and you know it.
You want to see arrogance, listen to gary hall. The guy is a ing tart, the guy thinks he's ing rocky wearing an american flag robe over him before he goes swimming. Even the announcers were talking about his arrogance/flamboyancy in a somewhat discrediting manner |

you are just jealous because phelps is the athlete wit the most medals in the olympics and the US is the country with the most medals...while australia not even on top and wont be..and they didnt even qualify for the 4x100 relay wtf? :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: |
