OK, since nobody has posted anything intelligent for a while, I suggest my puzzles (hard ones DUH!!!!)
1)You have ten boxes; each contains nine balls. The balls in one box weigh 0.9 kg; the rest weigh 1.0 kg. You have one weighing on an accurate scale to find the box containing the light balls. How do you do it?
2)You want to send a valuable object to a friend. You have a box which is more than large enough to contain the object. You have several locks with keys. The box has a locking ring which is more than large enough to have a lock attached. But your friend does not have the key to any lock that you have. How do you do it? Note that you cannot send a key in an unlocked box, since it might be copied
3)While three logicians were sleeping under a tree, a malicious child painted their heads red. Upon waking, each logician spies the child's handiwork as it applied to the heads of the other two. Naturally they start laughing. Suddenly one falls silent. Why?
4)How can a man have mutually safe sex with three women with only two condoms? How can three men have mutually safe sex with one woman with two condoms? |

PS.I got one for you.
There is an oval racetrack that is one mile around. A car driving a 2 lap race, averaging 30 miles per hour for the first lap. If the driver wants to average 60 mph for the entire race, at what average speed does he need to travel at for the second lap? By the way 90 mph is incorrect. |

Well.. the most obvious answer would be to take a ball out of the box and weigh it.. but there has to be something more..:rolleyes:

ok i think i got the answer to this one... Tell your friend to send u a lock, un locked of course... which he only has the key to. this way u lock it, and only he can open it, cos its his lock. |

If the track is 1 mile long, completing the first lap at 30 mph will mean that he completes the first lap in 2 minutes.
If he wants to average 60 mph for the entire race, he will need to complete the entire race (both laps) in 2 minutes.
Therefore, as he as already taken 2 minutes to complete the first lap, it can't be done. :)

Well, you could take 9 from one box, 8 from another, 7 from another etc. and ascertain, depending on the measurement you get at the end, which box has the lighter balls.
As you have selected a different combination at the end, you should be able to work out - via the number of light balls you have in the measurement, which you can work out by calculating how many balls you have weighing 100 grams instead of 111 - which box has the lighter balls.

the thing about the boxes...i think thats how pgp works, in a way..
u lock the box and send it to ur friend...then he puts his lock around the locking ring and sends it back to you...when u get it, u unlock YOUR lock and take it off, leaving his lock still on so the box is still locked...then send it back to him...and the job is done..
