If a mix by a DJ is not liked, what is the reason you don't like it?
is it because of the track selection, the set does not flow or is it because the mixing is out of key, not in sync or mixed at a bad point in the track?
it's all too easy to say those 2 words 'you suck', try thinking about why a dj sucked and post those reasons, maybe that way ppl would not take offense and then respond in a like manner.
and my only connection with the nu-gen board is that i know mattm who runs it, i am not a member of those forums and i don't intend to be a member of those forums.

fair enough, but how do you know anything about how I know him?? There has been speculation on the nu gen board, thats why I asked.
I find if you ask him fo constructive criticism, he will always give it to you. Some people cant take it, but like davepiazza has said, he can back it up with knowledge, because he knows more about the scene and music in general than anyone I've ever met.
I think that TA would benefit from more healthy discussion about things without instant suspension/banning. Whoever puts a mix up, should be thick skinned enough to take some flack - especially if they want to make it in the music industry. |

I read these forums, i take notice of posts by all members of these forums and draw my conclusions from what i see, i can be quite perceptive ;)
I've read topics on the nu-gen board twice, once when they delighted in slateing another dj, ultrafusion, and the 2nd occasion was when tranceairwaves had problems being able to stream live from gatecrasher, mattm and i was in attendence running the streams from GC and GC's net connection was failing us big time.
You say TA would benefit from more healthy discussion, well i agree, 100%, it would!
but the reasons bannings and suspensions are given is because healthy discussion is not what is happening, its just flamage, ppl take the attitude of 'hey it's only the internet, i can say what i damn well please about anyone i want and it wont cause me any trouble'
again, it's very very easy to tell someone they suck, most ppl say that without even bothering to take the time to download the track / mix in question, without bothering to read other ppl's posts, without bothering to do any research etc.
it's a lot harder to tell someone they suck and then give valid reasons to prove thier point.
i am all for debate, but constuctive debate and that means pointing out both positive and negative points but when as it invariably does it degrades into a 'this dj sucks', 'you suck for saying that', 'you are a twat for disagreeing with me' kind of thread then it's not worth making the posts at all.
And those that persist in posting the same tired old flames again and again do not have a place on a forum where the intent is to discuss this genre of music, note discuss, not flame each other stupid.

I dont think I have the attitude of 'hey its only the internet blah blah' - Im just not one for beating around the bush. I'll say what I think. I think Mark Sherry is a load of .

You are just a fascist. The only reason mark sherry gets special treatment is a) hes a semi 'big' name - people want to bum him, and b) he does a show on TAW, so YOU want to bum him.
I have consistently given valid reasons to back up my valid opinion about mark sherry.
Points still unanswered by you are, why is this mix still in this forum? and do you really find it useful to know that mark sherry has a test pressing of dj danjo & rob styles - duende :rolleyes: I know full well why he does this, and its nothing to do with helping others 'locate' tracks or whatever other bull excuse you came up with. Labels are fine - info like 'TP' is not needed.
Once again, you are a fascist. No wonder the majority of people on these forums are 14 year old wanker kids with no clue. You ban anyone who holds a valid strong opinion.
this is the last time i will post under this name so dont go 'banning' it as well.

I agree, although i would do because i am 'involved' with him :rolleyes: banning people because they go against the grain and take an opinion contrary to yours is a hallmark of a fascist.
Although maybe he got banned for 'being an arse'. :haha: Although I would agree (although I would wouldnt I) - mark sherry is , just no one has the balls to say it because of the consequences it has on here.
Last time this all blew up for the same reasons people got banned/suspended for holding the exact same viewpoint.

Just one thing, i did not suspend your account David, but another mod did.
I will expect that mod to have PMed you and explained his reasons for suspending your account.
I am also not keen on the amount of 'tiesto rules, omg' threads because they are just as pointless as saying he sucks threads.
if a person thinks tiesto rules then they should explain why.
the reason they dont get suspended is because they are not swearing or flaming in thier posts!
ppl are not suspended for thier opinions on this board, but for the way they express them, to constantly say someone is a load of with backing up thier veiw giving reasons is entirely pointless and totally without thought.
as i stated in the previous thread about mark sherry, i have no connection with him at all except for the fact that we both DJ for tranceairwaves, this is our only connection.
I have never banned / suspended anyone for having an opinion different to mine and never wiil do.
you can say Mark Sherry is if you can provide reasons for saying he is , just saying he is proves nothing except for the fact that you can not justify your veiw.
At the time Mark did this mix, dj danjo & rob styles - duende was maybe not released, i don't know but mark does, his tracklist prolly reflects the state of releases at the time he did the mix, i will leave Mark to answer that question.
info like 'TP' is very valid, for 2 reasons, again for copyright purposes and also that listeners of the set know if the track is released or not, if it's a 'TP' then of course the track is not released and may never be released, when ppl like mark post a mix with a TP in it, then feedback can be drawn from reactions to that track which may get it a full release, just the same as it would in a club or being played on a radio station.
A track gets a release based on feedback from promos and test pressings played by a DJ and what reactions those dj's get to the track when its played.
You as a 'dj' should know this!
