Alberta is one of two provinces (the other is Ontario) that provide a net financial contribution to the federal government - the country does not relolve around you

The Lack of Freedom in Canada:

Well where do I begin?

Let's start with lifestyle choice. Oh we in Canada like to pretend we are liberal because we let two men get married and allow topless women in public but let's get a grip.

Why is it that the average joe can't smoke in a pub, have a drink in a park or on a beach or anywhere outside of government designated areas like you could in most any other country?

Why does the government force us to stop drinking at 2am? Just about everywhere else in the world allows it's adults to drink at whichever hour they choose.

Why is it that Canada practically forces you to buy a car whether you want to or not due to bad planning and poor transit service? Pretty much anywhere outside of north america a car is something you choose to buy not something that is forced.

Let's move on to freedom of expression. Think you have it? Think again.

I don't condone hate literature by all means but short of inciting a riot, you should be allowed to communicate whatever your belief happens to be. If you don't think the holocaust happened, thats your belief and if you want to share it with others, thats your business. Sadly Canada only allows you to speak the truth as they see it. Disagree and you could go to jail. I personally think Ersnt Zundel is the scum of the earth but he shouldnt be going to jail unless he harrasses people or unless he incites violence. All he did was create a website.

How about the politically correct s? So now we cant mention Christmas or easter in public places such as school or in stores. There goes freedom of religion and more importantly, freedom of tradition. Will people get it through their head that Christmas has become more of a traditional holiday like Canada Day is than a religious one?

Let's talk about Canadian election laws which make it illegal for any non Canadian to communicate his or her views about an election during election time. What bull is that? Freedom of Speech? Yeah right. Ask Micheal Moore about that one!

Let's talk about business....

You need a permit for everything. Want to put up a simple non intrusive sign on private property? Get a permit. Want to set up tables and chairs outside? get a permit. No wonder the cityscape in Canada is so bland. BLAH!! I should be able to do whatever the hell i want ON MY OWN PROPERTY as long as it doesnt intrude on the neighbour.

Health Care: No choices here. Pay the standard high fee and get crappy service. Oh and if your lifestyle conflicts with healthy living the taxpayer shouldnt pay so the country will just overtax it or ban it to make sure you don't do it. Yeah hey, that's freedom!

I'm sick of this country treating us adults like babies as if we cant think for ourselves. Thats my #1 problem with Canada and will be the reason I leave if I ever do. But hey at least i can marry a man and see the odd topless american at wasaga beach (canadian girls are too prudish and we all know that already)

hey, just because you dont agree or see it doesnt mean that my opinions are any less valid than yours. The way i see it, it's people like you that are part of the problem.

Maybe if you opened your mind a little you'd at least see a bigger picture.

I feel that expressing your opinion is fine... its while expressing your views you puposely insult someone... thats where i believe that someone should make mention somehow... Now forgive me if you did not intend to and i will withdraw my previous statement...
Jayx1
how could that be taken as an attempt to insult someone? Im simply stating my disagreement with certain aspects of our country.

jayx1 i agree with u. but my problem goes deeper. but im not going to share my views because number 1 people dont want to hear it, and #2 they seem pretty content or blind the way things are going.#3 people dont look outside their lil world, they figure "hey if it doesnt effect me directly why should i worry." but what they dont understand ios that it does effect them, entirely. The way u think, the choices you make, your actions, everything has been influenced just for the sake of making one more buck.
Jayx1
Express your thoughts. Clearly there are some people here that are willing to listen. Don't let those who are part of the problem shut you down. Maybe these people need to be "offended" right out of their bubble.

LOL

Now that's a funny video.
