Amy, I hope you're feeling better. :(

What remix of "For an Angel" did he play? I've been out of the trance scene for a while, so I didn't recognize it.

the whole day just started out bad for me and glitter, 1st off, we had ordered white furry boots to match our outfits from the UK, and had paid 100 dollars just to have them shipped overnite to get here in time for last nite, well, they never got here, we said screw it, and decided to just wear it anyway with sneakers.
i was really psyched to get into the club, and waiting in line really didnt bother me, cept i was freezin lol, when we 1st got in everything was going great, and even though we couldnt get into the main room yet we were still having fun chatting with all of our glow-friends. it was when the main room was open that things started to go downhill. it got insanely packed really fast which doesnt really bother me, but the fact that the place was filled with so many idiots is what pissed me off. and the disrespect from some of those guys was unreal, they were acting as if they never seen a girl in a mini skirt b4, and i guess they thought it was a free- for - all, and by the time i left the club if i would have gotten grabbed by some idiot one more time they would have gotten kneed right in the nutz. so yeah, the place was filled with those types of people. the vibe was terrible! and i couldnt understand why you needed a special stamp to see dan sampson spin, i know alot of my friends were really dissappointed about that. i was really looking foward to seeing dan spin, but i wanted all my friends to be with me too, and me and glitter were the only ones with the stamp. so we went to the main floor to be with everyone....dan i'm sorry i missed your set, hopefully they change that so you dont need a stamp to get in your room.
from all the grabbing that was going on i really wasnt in the best of moods, but i tried not to let it ruin my night. well around the time when everyone started chanting PVD..PVD...i started to wonder where my good friends mani, mustafa, and sylvia were.
well soon after i found out that mani had lost his ID on the plane ride here from FL, and so they wouldnt let him in without his ID, well once i heard that i was really upset, i mean we all waited for this nite forever and now the glow family wasn't complete, and it just wasnt the same. i mean how could i have fun when my friend who was just as excited about this night as much as i was got turned away at the door? then i find out that ekstasis got turned away at the door b/c of something he was wearing and had to change to get in! that would have never happend at the old glow, so i really hope they ease -up on the dress code there or i dont think its going to attract a GLOW crowd. that place last nite was filled with a bunch of fake people and i really hope it was just cause it was opening night. i mean it was still great to see all of my friends again and i did get to meet alot of really nice people and we did get alot of compliments on the outfits, and dont get me wrong, the club itself was nice, it was just a very bad night for me. it got so bad i didnt even care about pvd's set anymore and had to get out of there. i think we left around 4 and when we got back to the room i went to bed.

guess i'll just post the same review and tl from pvdplanet, but i just wanted to include a shout out to all that i saw that night. sorry i was not so friendly, but i couldn't hear a thing and was not a happy camper. i think that was the worst night out i have ever had.

to all of those who were not able to attend: you missed a GREAT set but probably the worst party i've been to in my life.

one may ask themselves: how does that happen? come to DC and find out. i don't think there is a worse club than the new GLOW at FUR. what a joke...

greg and i were really psyched for this party. had my hotel room booked since june for this! we had a great time at paul's gig at CPI and were looking forward to another great set/party. read some neat information on the new venue and was looking forward to checking it out. now that DC is the closest city to pittsburgh to party, we were hoping to find a new 'home'.

prior to the party was fun: went to a brewing company for dinner (let the drinks begin!) met up with rory and went to the skytop bar to get a few more drinks and enjoy the great view of washington. around 10:30 we leave for the club and arrive to absolute mayhem before 11.

there were SO MANY PEOPLE in the street and around the club. mass confusion. even the people working for panorama productions were running around absolutely clueless. we wait in line for about 20-30 minutes just to pick up our will call tickets. we asked another employee of panorama productions what line to enter once we had our tickets, we were told, the line on the RIGHT. it's the shorter line, it made sense.

in line, we find out this is the nonticket holders line - weird, cause there were a whole lot less people and it seemed to be moving. afraid that we wouldn't be able to enter through this line, we hop out and head to the other. it was so long, i knew that if we waited in it we would never be in by 1am let alone 3 or 4...i didn't drive all the way for THIS.

absolute panic mode, i leave the line and tell the guys to follow. i was going to find a shorter way in. i begin to talk to a panorama production guy to see what he can do. poor thing was so clueless - i was even trying to get him to tell me where paul would arrive so we could enter with him. ;) he wouldn't budge - just said paul was there earlier for a sound check. pure desperation now after trying all avenues, i knew my only option was to cut the line. i innocently inserted myself towards the beginning and the guys met up later.

even though we were so close to the door, it still took at least an hour of waiting to get in. we got in just in time for the last track of edgar's and paul's arrival behind the decks. not very happy campers. if we would have had to wait in the line, we would have left. such bs. and maybe we should have, because that was just a preview of what was to come...

the club looked like a mini space (in miami). very similar layout and feel, and same sound system. i don't know who sets up the sound for those two clubs, but it is horrid. you can't hear ANYTHING (especially mid and highs) unless you cover your ears. i couldn't id any track unless i covered my ears. how fun is it to dance with your fingers in your ears all night?

it is quite packed - but not even as crowded as twilo used to get. the difference between the twilo crowd and the glow crowd is what made glow so intolerable. the people there were so RUDE and MEAN. so much pushing and shoving - elbows being thrown, not a friendly environment at all. so many disgusting guys trying to dance with or grab me although greg was right there. tools. every time i felt a hand i had to check that it was greg's. around 3am i couldn't take all the pushing and shoving anymore and tried to find a more friendly environment - none to be found.

i had such a horrid time, from 3:30 on i just wanted to leave. i NEVER will leave a paul van dyk set early. with each next track i was praying it would be the last because i had just had it.

the worst thing about it was that paul's set was REALLY good. he played great tracks and threw in some techno and classics - just the way i like it. i can remember only a handful of moments that i actually enjoyed myself due to the crowd.

unfortunately, paul's set came to a halting stop not just once, but TWICE during the night. the first one was supposedly because someone threw a shirt up on the decks to be signed. OOPS! guess paul threw the shirt right back at him and the kid was thrown out of the club. the second stop - i have no idea. heard a few transitions that were not so smooth as well.

a GREAT set, really driving and at times dark with classics and brand spanking new tracks too - just the way i like it. but unfortunately GLOW and it's crowd sucked - the worst experience ever.

i will never set foot in glow again or give them another penny. it's a shame because DC is only a 4 hour drive for us. though it will be hard to stay away when paul comes to town again.

tracklist time (though it was so very hard to id anything):

reflekt - need to be loved
pontape bootleg w/female vocals (paul played this on fritz a few times)
dk8 - murder was the bass INTO
cosmic gate - bilingual
ASYS - no more in rock n' roll
orgy - blue monday (that mix he plays)

kuffdam & plant - summer dream
marcos - cosmic string
marcos - but for a day
randy katana - in silence (txitxarro mix)
louise la roche - c'est l'heure
matys and marc van linden - am 2 pm

rank one - down from the deep

paul van dyk - for an angel (new mix w/piano break down)

encore:
cabal - energy flow

lots of new ones in there too!! couldn't id them though. i'm sure i'm missing some obvious ones as well, but it gives you a rough idea of what was played.

Dear Glow patrons, first and foremost we would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting us. It was an unforgettable night, full of energy and great music. We read all the posts on the forums and all the e-mails that you sent us and we would like to take a moment here in order to address the issues. We’re really sorry about the delays at the front door and the inconvenience that they might have caused you. It was the first night at a brand new nightclub that wasn’t ready to open for such a big event. Honestly we did not want the Paul Van Dyk event to be the first event at our new venue for a couple of reasons that we will mention below.
First of all, you never want your first night to be a massive event. The Fur Nightclub staff and management were not prepared to run the front door efficiently. There were a lot of delays and although we tried to move the line as fast as we could, it was physically impossible to let in so many people in such a short window of time. Doors opened at 9pm. At 10:45 we had only 30 people in line. Almost everyone seemed to arrive at the club at once and the front door staff was overwhelmed. Another issue was the amount of pre-sold tickets. Because it was a rock the vote event, we had to sell most of the tickets online. A Portion of the money was donated to ‘Rock The Vote’, and we could only let up to 200 extra paying people in after midnight. We know that many of you thought that we were letting random people in without tickets, but we were just taking care of personal friends and bottle service customers that actually had purchased online tickets as well.
Bottom line here is that there is no excuse for what happened at the front door. Everyone was finally in by 2:00am, but we know that a lot of you had to wait for a long time. This week, we will sit down with the FUR Nightclub management and we will make sure that everything gets a lot smoother in the weeks to come. The owner of the club spent millions of dollars to create a venue worthy of the GLOW name and experience, and we have spent hours of personal time and plenty of money to make this event happen. We want nothing but the best for GLOW and our loyal patrons. Please accept our apologies and support us in the effort to create the best dance music night on the East Coast.

The future is bright...GLOW.

Yah, that's kinda my opinion as well, but I'll be the first to point out that I didn't go to this event.
