what optical zoom has your camera got? must be very high to see hairs on a wasp |
it's not really about the zoom a lense has, it's the grade of magnification that defines how much magnification a lense can make. In this case I'm guessing he used one with 1:2 magnification, correct me if I'm wrong though :) |

wow, i have no idea what magnification mine has then
i've seen cameras with the same number of megapixels and the same optical zoom selling for quite a bit more than i payed for mine, maybe they have better magnification?
honestly quite disappointed with my camera, i think its got good features, but most pictures turn out . generally too small or too bright |

Optical zoom is pretty relative. If I have a 28-280mm lens, its a 10x zoom lens. Same goes for a 38-380. But the 380 will have alot more reach on the long end and the 28 will be alot wider on the short end.
Also...the closer you can focus (macro) the easier it is to get really close on those shots. |

ppl should resize their pics a little.. :)
anyways, here's a couple of pics from me, all taken with a 35mm slr camera (Nikon F5) and using Fuji Velvia 50 colorslidefilm and Kodak B&W T400CN black & white negativefilm. Scanned with Nikon Coolscan V filmscanner. |
I don't think I'd use T400CN because it doesn't have the permanence of the old school stuff.
Might as well go all the way if you're doing B&W eh? :D The negs will last for your whole life and more.
Anyways, have you tried Velvia 100F yet? I was quite happy with the results.
Kodak E100VS is a great slide film also for overcast conditions.
:)
I know, I know, it's all about teh digital now.
