Alright, linked are CNN's website and Fox's website for the US elections with projections and so forth. CNN seems faster than fox at projecting a winner by state, so I'll be following that one.
CNN
Fox
According to CNN, Kerry has a 77-66 lead over Bush.
Kerry has:
Maine (3), Vermont (3), Illinois (21), Massachussets (12), Connecticut (7), New Jersey (15), Deleware (3), Maryland (10) and D.C. (3)
Bush has:
Oklahoma (7), Alabama (9), Georgia (15), Tennessee (11), Kentucky (8), Indiana (11) and West Virginia (5).
Note: Maine has a system where it has split voting (along with Nebraska, and maybe Colorado tonight). In total, Maine has 4 electoral votes to give. So there is one more electoral vote that has not been decided yet.
Fox has decided to wait until all the votes have been decided before allocating them to the candidates, thus its projections sit at 74-66. |

Actually it is normal in the case of the United States. The US, unlike what is commonly believed, is not a democracy but a republic. Thus, total popular vote is really quite irrelevant when it comes to selecting who wins the presidency. |
