Wether or not you like the fact that he's dead doesnt give you the right to mock his death. The man learned his mistakes, and he won a nobel peace prize for his efforts. He is a symbol of unity to an extent, considering its not easy bringing about the idea of peace in the middle eastern countries. At least he tried, which is a lot I can say about him then you. Would you like it if fellow ta members mocked the death of one of your family members? |

No one can have a full control over all the nations inviduals, but Gandhi's, and at the same time India's, most important projects to gain freedom and independency were non-violent.
Freedom/independency can be gained both ways, of course. For Cuba, for example, violence was apparently the answer. For Finland, the answer was Bolshévik Russia (first Lenin & co supported other countries' independency in order to get recognition from elsewhere).
For Palestinian people, violence doesn't seem to help much. As I read from somewhere recently, Palestinians had probably gained their own independent state long ago if they had used non-violent ways as weapon. How could Israel (in spite of ignoring much of the pressure from UN and the international community nowadays) be that brutal that it is now if Palestinians had marched the streets chanting slogans, not blowing themselves up.
Can't Palestinians see the endless cycle that is so crystal clear to me. Violence brings more violence, they will never prevail using violence. IDF is superior in terms of using power. On the other hand, only a fool thinks IDF's missile strikes onto crowds will end the violence and bring peace for Israeli people. Sharon seems to be that fool, unfortunately.
Can't see peace coming if the old farts (certain mediums, schools, parents) in both sides keep educating their children, directly or indirectly, to hate the other side. Fresh, non-brainwashed-with-propaganda blood could help but can't see the old farts cutting the of "us being better than those terrorists/zionists".
But, c'mon, share the land ffs. We're all human beings. Nationality is something artificial to me. Can't see the difference between Israeli, Arab, Asian, Caucasian, African, American, etc. etc. people. And yes, I wouldn't mind being Swedish or Norwegian, for example (yet im happy to live in a western country since the alternative doesn't attract much <-- and for that I blame non-secular circles :disbelief ).
