its a very nice board, few quirks
the .5 multipliers are illusory... just puts the htt higher to give the illusion of .5 multiplication. the beta bios is pretty good i am using 1.36... also some people had fitting issues with the layout. heres a picture to give you a better idea. you can see the orange sata ports 1 and 2 behind the chipset block. those are unlocked so not good for overclocking. 3&4 are better but they are located very close to the agp slot. the block mounts for the 6800gt almost doesnt fit but it works. also on the other side the fit between the agp and chipset blocks are very close. but it works and no complaints here.
its a good board, very fast and mine is very stable. the design makes sense to me but others prefer the old design better. whatever the case most people would agree that its a great board.

The Lian Li case is so nice only bad thing that its 200 bucks!$!@$!$@!24 That dangerden block is pretty in spiffy. You must have deep pockets to be able to afford that gf 6800 ultra and and the block!!! Whut are your operating temps for that ?
My setup
Intel P4 2.2 @ 2.4 ghz
1 gig PC3200 ram
BFG Geforce 6800 OC |

lol its actually a 6800gt but... pretty much the same with a bios mod
yea deep pockets and a very long time worth of saved money
the msi has messedup temp readings and i hear the actual temperature is about 10c less than what the motherboard says for some reason. i did not bother researching more on that, just waiting for bios updates to fix it.
either way i have it overclocked pretty conservatively at 2600mhz and the temp says 54c under load... which i guess is more like 43-45c. |

I just built a new system recently but used several of the parts from my old HP Pavilion into the new one. Here are the specs:
Chieftan 450W Power Supply
Diablo Tek Demon ATX Mid-Tower Case (Includes 3 blue LED 80 mm fans)
ABIT IS-7 Motherboard
Pentium 4 2.0 ghz Processor (Outdated I know :()
2X Kingston DDR-RAM pc 2700 512MB (1024 MB total)
Samsung 40 Gigabyte Primary Hard Drive
Maxtor 160 Gigabyte Slave Drive (For me graphics files and mp3s)
ATI Radeon 9000
CyberDrive 48X CD-R/RW Drive
Samsung 16X Read DVD-ROM
Soundblaster Audigy Sound Card
Logitech Z-640 5.1 Channel Speakers
Epson Perfection 1250 Scanner
Iomega External USB Zip Disk Drive
Generic 1.44 Floppy Drive
2 4 inch Sunbeam UV Cathode tubes
And there's still some more things I want to do with this PC. Already saving up for a 2.8 ghz processor. I'll probably get the Swiftech MCX478-V Heatsink for overclocking purposes. Definitely gonna get a Radeon 9800 pro and maybe another stick of RAM. Need the memory for 3D Modeling programs.
As for the previous comments about the lights and cathodes, well I myself have always been a razzle dazzle type of guy, who prefers form over function, and thus needed a PC with a viewing side panel and cathode light tubes. And if I had the knowledge, I'd be decking the inside of my PC with strobe lights, fog machines and lasers, having a mini rave inside. That's just the kind of person I am. :disbelief |

512MB DDR Dual Channel PC3200
Abit NF7
2x 40gb 1x 120gb
16x Pioneer DVD-ROM
48x Lite-On CD-RW
ATI Radeon 9600
Not the greatest setup, but suits me well :) |
