TIESTO: why the bashing?

Hi all.. this is my first post..
ive been reading this board for a few days now and I have came across alot of tiesto bashing.. and I will just like to give my 2 cents..
first the people who are saying that tiesto cant mix and doesnt deserve his #1 ranking. well I have something to say about that, keep reading..
second.. the people who say he plays cheese.. ok I wont object to that.. yes he does play cheese from time to time.. BUT do you know why??
and third.. people who say tiesto is not even a real good DJ.. and his track selection has been off when some people have attended his live gigs..
well I am going to try and defend these negative remarks about him..
first of all,, Tiesto is a Dj who is in extreme demand.. he probably plays over 100 shows a year and every show cant be as good as the last or beter than them all.. alot of those days is like the title another day at the office.. so he is not going to rip it up..
he is only human.. but he still puts in a show for the majority.. just there will always be some people out there in the crowd who have heard better and its not up to standard..
his track selection.. well ok.. yes, he is number 1 again.. and he is probably alittle arrogant about it.. just as oakie was..
so he doesnt feel like he has to perform so much now.. kinda lost the hunger.. but he still turns out a professional set..
number one doesnt mean every show and track has to be EPIC..
he plays cheese ok I cant say much about this except.. people love it! hahahaha its true.. look at the rankings.. I know I know..but the stats speak for it self.. so play what sells..
of course for many not listening to cheese or commercial hits kinda means you are real hardcore.. not a lollipop novice like so many others.. so we talk about non commercial tracks and less cheese tracks which you wont hear on some cheesy remix cd...
but that doesnt mean he is a bad Dj..
becuase the fact is.. tiesto is number one becuase he is THAT GOOD!
he might be abit of a sell out now.. but most of the top djs do sell out as do all stars... hip hop etc....
they turn commercial and start to play radio hits and get sloppy..
BUT!!
the fact is.. if tiesto wanted to HE could do a set that would blow all the djs away and have us all dancing like freaks and then at the end of it we will be saying OH MY GOD!! please someone pick up my jaw it just hit the floor.. if he wanted too.. becuase he is that good!
he has the talent and the skills.., its just that he is not really using them so often on the decks for the likes of us trance junkies
he spends lot of time in the studio making the commercial cheese that will go number 1 all over europe and make him millions..
but hey.., thats no reason to be dissing him..
the guy can mix.. and we all know this..
anyway thanks for listening..
thats all I have to say about tiesto..
I think the guy is great.. of course I dont listening to him often
but I think he needed some defence.. too much bashing..
IF tiesto came to my city I would go see him.. I guess most of you all would too..
maybe alot of you are angry that he is not doing what he is capable of doing.. or maybe a lot of you just do think he is garbage haahha

Why do people bash oakenfold?
Eventually all of the high end djs get flipped off by people who like to think they know alot about the industry, or whatever.
Hell, James Zabiela used to be some big amazing hero, but now people are already starting to bash him, saying that he doesnt deserve the place hes in because other djs have done what everybody is making a big deal out of him doing.
(although i must admit, him cutting a deal with pioneer is pretty lame...) |

| He's not, nor has he ever been #1 because he's "that good". He plays pop music, happened to do it at the right time, and has a marketing team that could turn my grandmother into a pop star in six weeks. He's #1 because he's more popular, not because he's a better DJ. You don't know what you're talking about. I doubt you could name a DJ who actually knows what he's doing. Tiesto is bad even for a trance DJ. Playing tracks end to end with one minute of mixing is bad enough but tiesto can't even beatmatch. People bash him because he sucks, simple fact. |

That’s great you love Tiesto but there is much more to dance music than these three mega stars.
I've been on this board a short time but I am getting tired of reading about the same over and over.

Pretty simple. Technically, he is terrible.
I always rip that, but defend his programming and track selection. That's what made him big. I don't like his sets as much anymore (programming wise), but at least he has variance in his sets. But he is so awful technically that I get frustrated. I don't wanna pay $40 (or nothing even) to see a guy trainwreck and come in abrupt with bass cancellations. Sasha, Sander K, Hernan Cattaneo, Digweed, Max Graham, and IMO Armin at least mix well and bring some variety to their sets, most times. Why aren't they ranked higher than him. Because he's commercial and appeals to the masses, especially younger, undeveloped listeners. |

I hate when these groupies come on a forum to tell the world that their favorite DJ can mix but doesn’t show it because they are lazy. :rolleyes:
it that’s the case than every DJ is Sasha but they are just to lazy to show it :clown:
come on for someone who is dedicating their teenage life to hype a DJ you need a better excuse than this. |

I will give Tiesto this...his sets differ more than most of the DJ's that I have seen live. With some of the others I can almost predict what they will spin. I say this because I am still a bit stunned from his set two months ago when we couldn't ID over half of his set. He only played two vocal tracks and they were at the beginning of his set (Find & I Found U). The rest was non-vocal trance and I loved it. He didn't play any well known Tiesto tracks except for Nyana or any (crowd favorite) tracks that you just knew would get the dance floor going. Yet his set was one of the best that I had ever heard live. His track selection that night was anything but "pop music". Is he my favorite DJ? No. Is he capable of playing a set as good if not better than anyone else's? Yes. Not too many DJ's can walk into a room and throw down a set with over half of it not being able to be ID'd by the people there and still have the room stand there and stare at you in awe. I have to give props where props is due. |

yes.. ok.. well I never said tiesto is my idol. I did say I dont listening to him often.. I was just saying.. I dont think he sucks..
I mean he is a big NO HUGE draw card.. he can pack raves with 30.000 people with his name on the bill... now its either all those listers dont know about trance or actually he has some fans..
yes he is a commerical dj.. but people of the world ar enot that stupid.. they know talent when they see it.. and the person who said his grandmother could be a superstar in 6 weeks.. come on man..
you dont get to be number 1 and pack out areas becuase you are garbage! he doesnt go off.. becuase he doesnt have too.. he does a job.. he is now a show pony.. a big star..
IM not saying he is the best dj around.. I have personal favorites IMO kick all over tiesto.. but you all may think different..
