Your argument is as followed ( please correct me if I'm wrong)
Paul Van Dyk played Ferry Corsten tracks. This indicates he respects him as an artist. Because Vandit Nights is an event to showcase DJ's Paul Van Dyk respects Ferry would be a rationale choice. |

Yes, I understand. It might well be that Paul is just booking Ferry in order to make as much cash as possible, but the factors I have brought into the debate via my posts puts that argument into question.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. Paul has flip floped numerous times tastewise compared to his earlier statements. For instance, he stated in interview that he didn't like the new mixes of Synaesthesia since they didn't do anything new with the original track. Yet he goes on to play Ferry's mix on Soundgarden regardless. |

| its simple, if paul DO NOT respect ferry as an artist like Laushina was saying BUT plays ferry's like crazy even makes HIS own re-edit of a ferry remix[sweetest dreams], straight up thats contradicking himself in the ass... and ALSO, pvd s on many tracks that are 'cheese' soemehow he thinks the cheese HE plays is ok. no its not ok, he plays plenty of crap as well. so what is HE do claim whats cheese and whats not, oh dont forget, he used to play Gouryella - Gouryella as well.. |

I personally think the schizophrenic nature of PVD is his largest asset. One can never classify him as a particular ‘style’ or ‘sound’ of DJ. Unlike so many DJ’s that embrace one particular sound PVD is very skillful in his ablity to embrace many different sounds. IMO that is what makes him a true DJ. As a result Paul Van Dyk is able to appeal to a diverse crowd of listeners without resorting to hype or gimmicks. This is what makes him the musical genius.
The paradox ( if one exist) is found in the purpose of Vandit Nights and the booking of Ferry Corsten. To understand this paradox you have to ask yourself the following questions:
What were the characteristics or musical philosophy of other DJ’s prior to the Ferry booking for Vandit Nights?
How are they different from Ferry?
If Vandit nights is believed to be an event that Paul Van Dyk shapes to showcase his idea of dance music; than one must analyze the Ferry booking through this perspective. Thus the following questions must be asked:
How does Ferry Corsten fit into the musical philosophy of Paul Van Dyk ?
Is this booking congruent with the musical direction of Vandit nights and Paul Van Dyk?
Is Paul Van Dyk ‘selling out’ on his musical integrity in the aspiration for quick profits and guaranteed success via Ferry Corsten??
I don’t claim to have all the answers but I do know what questions to ask.
Hopefully someone can solve this puzzle. |

He didn't play it on Soundgarden, Ferry did. He had a guest slot yesterday. |
