WTF, this thread comes up once a month.

BTW, Oakie.

Not anymore. Most TAs agree that he sucks at DJing although he probably placed high in the top 100 poll.

I just think its bull that a DJ would distributes a mix to the public with illegal tracks he got. Its unfair to the producer and unfair for dance music.

If your going to share a mix with the world atleast pay for the rights to do so.

I somewhat agree. Youre making a name for yourself, or establishing yourself as someone who gets tracks before theyre released. Thats fine and good if youre receiving promos, but if you dont have the artists permission, youre generating recognizability without paying for the right to do so.

To say that youre not the only one isnt an excuse.

from my mixes i haven't used a single track that wasn't yet released. and i'm not formulating any excuses...if you've something against my mixing mp3s cd-rs digital d/ls whatever the you want to call them...don't listen to my mixes! :p

and like i aforementioned...if Dave Pizza wants to buy me tts i'll gladly buy all the records i employed as mp3s in my mixes heretofore...which are ALL released on vinyl.

Sorry, I think I misunderstood the situation. I have no problems with mixing cds, I used to have CD decks as well, till someone stole them from me. If youre using tracks you have some sort of permission (either through purchasing or the artist's consent) to use, then i have no problem with you distributing mixes. I took Dave Piazza's post to mean that you were downloading mp3s and playing them in your sets before the songs were released. This is not cool with me. So, if I misunderstood what is going on, I apologize.

this is exactly my point.

These s download illegal for free and pretend they are getting exclusinve promos while we 'real' dj's are like WTF this isnt in the store yet.

how is a real dj going to compete with someone who just downloads tracks for free when we have to pay $15 for a single track.

I hope when these s start to sell mix cds or release production work people just download their for free and piss on them.
