If your going to share a mix with the world atleast pay for the rights to do so.

Damn right

I am so over this mentality of "well I got it from blahdy blah and since it is in my possession I can do whatever I please with it...including putting it up for download so that other people can rip it as well". An unreleased track is an unreleased track. I'm not impressed with any idiot on here that obtains a track from any peer to peer group like Soul Seek or even from a promo if they use it in an attempt to make themselves look cool by putting it up for DL. Very uncool. All it does is make you look lame and pisses off the artists involved.

There is a huge difference in thinking that a DJ is overrated because you don't enjoy the music he spins and thinking that he's not a good DJ. Technically the DJs that the dude a few posts up posted (i.e. Zabiela, Sasha, Holden, JOOF, etc) are amazing. You can't say they are overrated simply because you don't enjoy their music.......IMO

zabiela does nothing special with his scratching.
90% of hip-hop djs can do it easily...

according to Markus. For me Markus has different sound than others, you can easily recognize his tracks, and thats what is all about, I've never met him, but from what I've seen (live) hes not full of himself, he enjoys what he is doing, not like PVD who seems that he is bored.

100% of hip hop Djs could not scratch with Zabielas record/cd-r collection.

45% of bderoom djs could beatmatch/mix just as well or better with Markus' cd-r/vinyl collection.

I like them both, though one more than the other.

From what I gather, Markus is rather full of his extremely rapid rise to popularity. But this is unrelated to his skills as a dj.

:stongue: ide like to see them try, and hes not just scratching, hes doing other with the sampler and the EFX at the same time while scratching, switching hands etc. If you think its nothing special you have obviously never heard him.

These s download illegal for free and pretend they are getting exclusinve promos while we 'real' dj's are like WTF this isnt in the store yet.

hey face...like i said, all the tracks i mixed are NOT EXCLUSIVE AND ARE AND HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE IN RECORD STORES. what more do i need to say to get my message across...you ignorant bastard

just coz you never heard any of the tracks on my set DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE EXCLUSIVE...just means you're a n00b like lots of people here and know nothing besides ASOT trance. and if i do at some point spin "exclusive" tracks...i don't illegally download them as mp3s but rather get them from m8s of mine that know the producers.
bon voyage, flibbirtigibbet.

overrated

tiesto - obviously
armin - obviously
markus schulz, kind of, as the only people that rate him generally are stupid americans like TigerClaw.
above & beyond - why are they even rated? who knows.
j00f - is not sasha, is not goa, he plays wank trance
zabiela - omg he scratches, amazing, shame he can barely stick 2 records together half the time.
way out west (career = over) yet people on TA have just discovered them :haha:

If something sounds good to me I will listen to it and probably buy a copy because I like it and want to hear it more. If I hear a really good song and then find out later it was somehow by Britney Spears, I wouldn't change my opinion that I liked it because of the politics behind it. Being the "#1 DJ in the world" is like being a Led Zepplin cover band: no matter how well you perfectly play their songs, the best review you'll get is: "yeah, they sounded like they're supposed to." Just listen to and go see who you like and if it's not as popular as something you can't understand people liking, enjoy paying a cheaper cover charge when you go to see them.

Over rated:
Markus Schulz - I used to like him, but he really kind of bores me.. to me his sets lack energy..

Tiesto - I personally feel he can do much better, but has really just declined in this last year more than any of the others

Paul Van Dyk - Don't get me wrong, I do like him, he's one of the guys that got me loving the music, but I think right now he's over rated, he's just too inconsistant

as far as under rated:
Perry O' Neil - He may be a progressive DJ, and that may not be your cup of tea, but I think unlike Markus, he has some energy with his music.. I think he deserves a bit more credit, especially because he hasn't been doing this for very long

anyways, that's my two cents.. cheers
